The next applicant was something that took Erik by surprise, but he kept his expression calm... somewhat with a slight raise of his eyebrows. It was one of those curious, intelligent, clay race, a Pycon if he remembered correctly. Syliras didn't get many Pycons who were interested in joining the Order, there was only one he could remember at the top of his head, a certain squire with a spherical name, Ball.

It seemed Ball would indeed get a friend, but first, Erik must know if this female - she looked the part - Pycon had the aptitude to join the Order, "Yes, I am Ser Erik Rainstorm, Miss...?" Erik expected the Pycon to introduce herself. After she had done so, Erik would settle in his seat as he motioned the Pycon to climb onto his desk so he could speak to her with less awkwardness, "So tell me, what do you know about the Knights? What drive you to join the warriors of Sylir? Think about it and be honest."

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Nivel on March 26th, 2014, 3:48 am

The tall folk introduced himself as Ser Erik Rainstorm miss, and Nivel wondered why his name was so long. The tall folk paused and Nivel realized that he must be waiting for her name. "Sorry my name is Nivel" she said abruptly. Nivel was surprised at how anxious she was suddenly feeling and began to question every thing she said. For some reason her name seemed so simple in comparison to this Giants incredibly long name. Nivel wasn't even aware that Erik Rainstorm was feeling just as uncomfortable.

The tall folk sat in a seat and motioned her to sit across form him, she climbed up the leg of the chair and onto the seat and waited for him to continue talking. He asked her what she knew of the knights and why she wanted to be a one. Nivel had to ponder for a brief moment as she didn't want to answer incorrectly.
"I only know of the tales my parents told me, about how they stand for honour and protect the weak..that's why I wish to become a knight." The Pycon said with sudden conviction before awaiting his response.
Oocopps accidentally posted my template in the wrong place. I might need to make my own Patron as I don't see any mage knights left.

If there was one thing obvious about Pycons was about their curious and active attitude, they were very straightforward with their emotions, they weren't afraid to try something new. Anxiety was common of course, but the fact that the Pycon continued pleased the old Knight.

So, her name was Nivel, a rather elegant name in Erik's opinion. Erik then put his remaining left arm to rub his mustache, then leaned in, "You are correct, we stand for honor and protect those in need, but..." Erik's next words were coated with wisdom, "We do not protect the 'weak', everyone in Syliras is strong in their own way. Without the farmers, hunters, smiths, and others, the Knights wouldn't even be here in the first place so, we all have a part in life, the Knights being guardians and protectors."

The senior Knight wanted to test the Pycon's resolve further, "Tell me, Miss Nivel, if you have power, the power to both protect and destroy, what will you do with it? Do you have what it takes to protect what is right and destroy what is wrong? Are you able to convince yourself that sometimes, violence is necessary? The Knights fight for peace, but some evils are beyond saving. Tell me, be honest."

The giant corrected Nivel’s assumption that a knight protected the weak, and as much as the pycon was a bit upset with herself for not getting the answer right the Tall folks words put her at ease. Being small as she was came with unique challenges and once Nivel had left the comforts of her Pyve, these challenges became more apparent. Erik’s words made her feel that she could have a purpose too and strengthened her resolve.

The Giant asked another question, and it was a rather hard one for Nivel to answer. Nivel had only just learnt about what destruction meant and did not think of it favorably. "I will use violence if I need to protect myself or others but I may find it hard to destroy someone.... is there even a way to truly know if someone is beyond saving."
Nivel was fairly naive about the world from being lucky enough to not meet any truly reprehensible people or even know they existed.

Ser Erik took in Nivel's words with contemplation, this Pycon was apparently young, still naive to how exactly the world works. Her aspiration to be a knight was good, her drive was commendable, but the Order didn't need people who can not do what is must.

However, he will give her a chance, the veteran knight leaned in as his face took a very serious, no non-sense expression, "Listen to me, and listen well, dear Nivel. There are things in this world that corrupts everything that we stand for, The God of Evil and Betrayal, Rhysol and his followers being one prominent example." Ser Erik then leaned back to his chair, rubbing his chin, "You will be a sword of Sylir, you will encounter evil, and once you do, I need you to be ready to smite it, evil does not know mercy, evil does not know forgiveness, give it redemption and it will strike you in the back with a treacherous dagger." He finished then paused for five ticks.

"So, do you have what it takes?"

Nivel had heard of the god of Rhysol before but only in tales her mother and father had told her. "Surely this god of Evil couldn't be real" thought Nivel but the tall folks tone seemed too serious for him to be lying. From what Nivel knew of this god, if there really was people that did this dark being's bidding then maybe they were beyond redemption. Nivel shuddered at this realization and for a brief moment wondered if she was ready to willing face what being a knight really entailed. The Pycon quickly banished these negative thoughts, because she knew deep in her nexus that if there was things in this world that were truly horrible that she would do her part to end them.

"If the stories I've been told really are true than I will not hesitate to do what is needed." Nivel said confidently.

"No, he is very much real as our mighty Sylir, dear Nivel." Ser Erik dropped the 'miss' as he deemed the Pycon was still rather young and it would be appropriate to call her such until she proved otherwise. Ser Erik then continued with his tale, he kept it brief, "Chaos and Evil will always be there, watching us, trying to corrupt us both from the outside..." Then he gestured to his own heart with his hand, "and from within. Take heed, young one, for once you take up Sylir's sword, you will face one of these evils." He wasn't trying to intimidate the Pycon, no, he was opening her eyes.

Ser Erik then went silent as he took in Nivel's answer, then after a full chime of silence, he simply took a parchment, wrote something on it, stamped it, then rolled it up, finally, he offered the parchment to Nivel, "Take this to the Squire Dormitories, talk to one of the chaperons, she will take you to your new home and introduce you to your patron knight," Erik then gave her a fatherly smile, "Yes, welcome to the Syliran Knight Order."

OOCCongrats, Nivel! I will PM you SS thread soon, add your patron knight NPC and your name to the Shield Points list.

"for once you take up Sylir's sword, you will face one of these evils."
those words echoed is Nivel's Nexus and made her shake in fear of what might be in store for her in the future. Although to Nivel fear and excitement weren't too far off from each other, they both gave her a bit of a thrilling sensation. Nivel had not been one to shy away from this feeling and she wasn't about to today..that was if she did indeed get accepted. The pause that came as the Tall Folk decided Nivel's fate felt like an eternity, it was like a cruel and unusual torture for the pycon. When Erik began to write some notes on a parchment Nivel became very confused but the tall folks intentions soon became clear. Nivel's Bat winged ears twitched rapidly to show her overwhelming excitement as she took the large rolled parchment signifying her acceptance from him. She thanked Erik profusely as proceeded to jump off the chair and head off to start her new journey.

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Nayato on May 17th, 2014, 9:28 am

80th Day of Spring, 514 AV.

Nayato stood before the entrance of Syliran Knights Recruitment Office dressed in buckskin pants and matching moccasin boots, each just as sun worn as the faded tan tint of his linen shirt he wore. As he stood there in deep thought there were words suddenly spoke within his mind in a curious manner followed by a sly chuckle. “You do know this is a bad idea? ” He knew immediately who had spoken which caused a smirk to form on his lips. The Chaktawe allowed his obsidian eyes to fall towards his left side to find a golden dingo sitting next to him. The creatures body illuminated like golden sand under a bright sun that tricked the mind into seeing distant mirages. It was his guardian Ibiski.

“We both know you don't believe that. I've done many good things helping others survive the wild, but this could allow me to help many more." He communicated back in a simple thought. “True, but I just want it to be known that I was at least somewhat against this should things go badly later on. You should get stronger to help yourself, not for others. The world can take care of itself.” Just as fast as she had appeared his guardian vanished into thin air.

He returned his gaze to the entrance way where he shifted his shoulders to adjust his leather quiver, filled with both his arrows and also what his shortbow rested in to be comfortably carried, against his back. With no other doubts on his mind he entered the building.

Nayato made his way to Ser Erik's desk and gave the man a slight bow of his head in greeting. "My name is Nayato, I have wandered far from Eyktol with intent to find a place where I can help do good in the world. I know little of your Order except for what I have heard in reputation. But, from what I have heard and seen they are all positive things and I wish to join and learn."

The one-armed Knight stared up then calmly examined the approaching recruit, he had tanned skin, dark hair... but of course and obviously, the man's most striking features were his eyes, the pure obsidian eyes of the desertkin, Chaktawes. In a way, Erik was reminded of Aonwey and Mora, the Chaktawe Knights, and from what he knew of them, they were honorable people, however, he still has to see if this particular Chaktawe who introduced himself as "Nayato" was worthy.

"I see, Sir Nayato, I am Ser Erik, we are honored to see your interest in joining the Order," Erik then rubbed his beard with his remaining left arm, then he paused before continuing, "Why do wish to join the Order, Sir Nayato? What is your purpose, what do you hope to achieve? Don't be afraid and tell me, if you deem yourself worthy, then you will have nothing to hide."
