Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Valien closed his eyes, letting out a breath at Ser Erik's answers. In all honesty, he expected this would happen, but the fact that the old knight didn't think him irredeemable meant...something. Valien wasn't sure what quite yet. Still...

"If that's the case, then I'm sorry," he said. "No deal. I wouldn't even be in here if it wasn't for Serah. But thank you for your time. I appreciate it."

That said, Valien turned and left the Recruitment Office. It was time to try and find other employment.

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

The squirrels eyes widened to the size of saucers when he realized that he'd barely even introduced himself, or said anything about himself.. or his skills.. or anything! Well, this was an awful start. How was the man supposed to know that he was worthy to be a knight, or a squire, or anything if he didn't at least give him some reason. "The name I chose is Archailist, although many call me Arch for short. A pleasure to meet you, Ser Erik." Over his time, he'd never really grown to accommodate etiquette the same way that he could only assume these knights were used to. A small bow was made with one arm folded over his own midriff but it came out clumsier than he'd anticipated - most likely some of the visible nerves shaking his small body as he stood in the one position even he'd never expected to find himself. Childhood dreams were being lived out here.

For his next words, he had to really take the 'don't rush' into account. His words started as a bit of a babble, stumbling over sentences and blurring words together into noise. But as he slowed and carefully formed his words, they came out easier and more practiced. Truly, it was something that he'd practiced every day in his dreams. "I know it's not anything small, I mean, it's not a small task, but I'll take it. Try it I mean. It's not something I want out of a blue, out of the blue. I've been training, you see. I mean. I went to Nyka, with the monks, to learn from them. Although it didn't work. I tried learning discipline, combat. Things like that. I've always wanted to be a Syliran Knight. It's always been what I wished, what I wanted. When I was young.. well.. I owe them my life. Now I'm here to settle the debt and repay them. I've been training for this before I came here, and I want to keep training.. I want to help people. Not just keep the peace and all that, I want to actually be able to help people and help Syliras become a safe haven for everyone who needs it."

By the time the squirrel had finished his long and rather rambling speech, his back strained to remain straight and his mouth hung open to take in heavy breaths of air. Not that he really needed to breathe, but... his brain had been hard-wired to have such things. "Sorry.. may have gotten a bit carried away there.. hah, sorry."

"Sir Archailist." Ser Erik nodded politely to let the Pycon know that he heard his introduction, then he paused as he listened tentatively to Arch's answer. Well, he looked eager and spirited, a bit stuttering, but Erik knew it was because of nervousness, it came naturally for some people when making a big decision in their life. "I see, Sir, well, it is an interesting story." Erik didn't comment about the Nykan monks, they were not really his concern, his concern was the current squirrel-shaped Pycon standing before him.

He then leaned in, his face became very serious, "I see you want to protect, it is an honorable goal, however..." He then gestured to the door, "Out there... the forces of Evil and Chaos are always watching, always corrupting, being a Knight also meant that you must be capable of making a decision to intentionally take a life. Are you capable of that, Sir Arch? It is not all pretty." He then leaned back, giving time for Arch to contemplate and give a firm answer.

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

Sir. A knight was calling him Sir. Goodness, he thought he could faint right then and there. And he thought it was interesting! He could only hope that it could possibly add some leverage to his desires. He'd crossed a considerable amount of land to get to the city, spent nearly a season there and returned again solely fr the purpose of preparing himself for this. He was dedicated!

Although. When the knight began to get down to the 'serious' matters, the squirrel would not be seen as some child. He knew what he was getting in to.. if he didn't then he wouldn't be here. He wouldn't have gone through everything he'd been through so far - and there was a lot he'd learned in Nyka. The cultists and the creatures in the Aperture. He knew about danger. "Don't patronize me. I know that being a knight isn't all flashy armor and saving damsels in distress. It's not a fairytale. But I want it. If I have to take a life to save a life, if I have to do some bad things if it will mean saving good people, then I'll do it." All in the name of the Syliran Knights, and Syliras itself.

Ser Erik paused after Arch's answer, then after about five ticks, he took out a quill and parchment, then wrote something in it, then he rolled it up then sealed it with a melted drop of candle, "Take this," He offered Arch the parchment then leaned back, "Go to the squire dormitories, talk to one of the chaperons, tell her I sent you," Then he smiled, "Welcome to the Order, Squire Archailist."

OOCI have updated your SS thread with the info. :)

You can now choose your patron Knight from the Master NPC list or make your own in the NPC Request Page.

Welcome to the Knighthood, Squire Archailist! :D

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Revy Hiroe on June 15th, 2014, 11:10 pm

10th day of Summer 514AV

It was not much longer then half a bell since sunrise, when a lone woman, clad in leather armor, walked into the recruitment office. The fact that she went here, was something she had never expected nor thought of, when she was traveling to Syliras. However, that short run in with Markus brought about a change. It made the woman want to change herself, be more true to her own feelings.

Seeing how this was her first time signing up for something like this, she was rather nervous. An inner turmoil of mixed feelings battled with each other. At one side they were cursing her for wanting to join these knights, feelings that rose from the failure of them protecting her while she was in the tank, yet at the other side the gratitude of having been saved by said knights. She wanted to solve this as she didn't want to get in trouble with them anymore. She also wanted to steer away from her old lifestyle as a mercenary. Perhaps she could finally do something she could be proud of at all times, instead of having to cringe at some of the events.

However, despite that turmoil within the woman, outwardly she still kept her old poker face. It was and still is a self protection mechanism of hers. She refuses to show her vulnerable side to people willingly, especially in public. What others would see was a woman looking around a little curious at most, as if scanning the environment.

Well, the next one who came sure looked fitting, a tall woman with fit body, honed muscles, and a face that spoke of experience. From first glance, Ser Erik knew this dark-haired woman was a fighter, perhaps a mercenary, well he would find out. It seemed she had a bit of confusion regaring how to apply for recruitment though, "Ahem." Ser Erik coughed to catch Revy's attention then he would gesture for the woman to come hither, "I am Ser Erik Rainstorm, this is the Recruitment Office where one applies to be a Squire of the Syliran Knight Order, how may I help you?"

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Revy Hiroe on June 16th, 2014, 6:25 am

Someone behind her coughed, attracting her attention. Apparently she had to go there. Did she have to fill out a form or something? Anyway, she had to get some information. She just quietly listened to this elder person. Well, she did need information so she could easily ask him. "Well... I'm interested in joining. Do I have to fill something out? And does it matter what my past is?"

The second part is what she was most nervous about. She hailed from Sunberth and most people were prejudiced against Sunberthians. That's why she had invested a lot of time to get rid of her accent. But she had also gotten into trouble with the knights before, something she regretted. Besides that is that there have been contracts before, that she wasn't too proud of afterwards. Despite their pay, she just hated what she had to do to complete them.

Most people, except those who have embraced the mark of dark gods, deserved a second chance. Ser Erik listened to the woman's hesitated tone as he leaned back in his chair, "Well, only Sylir, Yahal, Tyveth, and Eyris can deem you worthy or not. Whether your past matters or not, we will see through your actions as you spend your time as a squire." The senior knight then gave Revy a serious smile, "Do realize that joining the Order is no small decision," Then he idly rubbed his beard as he examined a few parchments, "Do tell me your name, Madame, so I can call you properly."

It was good to hear that her past didn't matter, that way she didn't have to keep up a mask at all times. She had done so her whole life and it was getting rather tiring. She wasn't afraid of committing to this, if it meant that she'd finally have a job she could enjoy for the rest of her life. "I don't mind committing to it for the rest of my life if it means that I can enjoy it completely. And my name's Revy Hiroe.", she replied.

The doubt in her mind about wether this was a good thing or not had been cleared completely. She was gonna join, she was gonna do a job she could enjoy to the fullest and she got to protect other people, people who deserved to be protected. She wasn't sure how Sayren was gonna take what she had done just now, but surely the girl wouldn't mind? After all, the woman finally had a job that could make her proud of what she did.
