[Aidara's Scrapbook] It's Real For Us

I found that picture online and I loved it. It's the "big" road through my small town and with the addition of newer, shinier cars... It looks exactly the same. I think that's kind of awesome. The buildings are all still there with very few changes. There are trees lining the road now and some signs are different etc but... you get the point. It's the small towns like these that I love.

It also makes me really take a look at where I am living in California and it's much easier for me to put a finger on what I don't like. Here, I run into people that I went to highschool, middle school, elementary school with.. and while I might not always want to see them, it's nice to have that sense of familiarity. In California, I've lived there for a year and I have yet to see (for more than either of us walking to or from a car or mailbox) and/or even speak to any of the neighbors on any side of the house. And everyone is a-okay with that.

It's weird.

It has also rained every single day since I've come back to visit. And that's normal, and I'd forgotten how much I missed it. I think the overall dampness in the air isn't doing anything to help dispel this cold but.. Well, I'm not going to complain. I love the rain. It's my favorite kind of weather.

I just go back inside from sitting out back with my parents, brother and some long time family friends. Even in the downpour, we all sat under some kind of tent, tree, or in the mouth of the big barn my dad built for his work tools/landscaping stuff. It was awesome, and we would have had a campfire going if it hadn't been raining so hard.

And that brought me to another realization. My family here has built their life mostly outside. My mom is always out there gardening, my dad is always outside working or just relaxing; really bad weather is really the only thing that ever drives them inside. We have tons of lawn furniture and mom has it all set up so that it matches and is really nice, not just a trashy array of pastic chairs found on the side of the road that my dad would be perfectly happy using. Where as back in Ca... If it sprinkles, you're inside. There is nothing outside at all, whatsoever, that you can use to shelter yourself from the elements. I didn't notice the difference until I got back here and it's kinda shocking just how different it is. I never realized how much of an outside person I was.

On another note, I'm feeling better. Still not 100% but I'm getting itchy to start writing and continue my development and flesh out my ideas. The past week or so was really hard on me and set me reeling for a few days, unable to really pull my thoughts together into anything as coherent enough as even a scrap entry. But I'm slowly realizing that it'll all be okay, one way or another, I'm feeling better, and getting my optimism back.

I've said time and time again that everything happens for a reason and I am a firm believer in that. Not the hippy-dippy "Ooooh just let shit happen, man", but to instead just roll with the punches and take them as they come. If they knock you down, take whatever time you need but get back up. Always get back up. Nothing is really permanent and nothing is always as bad as it seems at the time.

If it sounds like I'm trying to convince myself, I kind of am. I believe in what I'm saying but I'm still in the process of finding my feet again.

Alright, well I don't know who of you remember Daniel but he was, and still is, one of my bffl's.

Well, he disappeared for a while without a word and while I wondered where he went, I thought it was just med school eating him alive.

Wow, was I wrong.

I'll let him tell his own story when he gets back but basically he was in a terrible car accident and was laid up in the hospital for a few months. I just got a text from him earlier today telling me all this and I still look like this:

:O

Anyway, I guess he hopped in chat and a few people asked for pictures but he doesn't have any way to post them and asked if I would be so nice as to post them for him. So here they are!

Just to reiterate: Daniel is okay and should be going home today or tomorrow!

Holy petching shyke, mother of Lhex.

I am so glad he's okay. I had the pleasure of seeing him in chat, and can't believe he felt bad about not posting.

What a trooper. Thanks for posting these. Damn, that car looks like a crushed soda can.

Here's hoping his recovery continues smoothly.

Whoa, that's a wreck. I was threading with him, and he just vanished without explanation. Now I know why. Thank the earth he's okay.

Finally

I finally have time to write! YES!!! I am almost completely caught up on Phoenix, and then it's all PC's.

I feel bad for my PC's. They have barely gotten any love, and I've barely had any time to give them any sort of goal. They're all just kind of.... there.

One thing at a time, Jules. But I do need to get working on that.

In other news, I think I'm done traveling until I head back to Ca on the 15th. That's a good part of a week in order to do whatever I want... FINALLY!
