Hello folks!

An update for all the graders helping out. From now on, please include the source for all shield point awards.

For example, say a player was training with his patron and then went on patrol they would have three sources, Training, Threading with their patron and going on patrol. This might get broken down like so:

Shield points	Amount
Training	+4
Threading with your patron	+ 1
Patrolling	+2

Or:
Shield points : +4 (training) +1 (patron) +2 (patrolling)= 7 Shield points.

Also remember to award negative shield points separately for acts of dishonor.

Hello Syliras!

Welcome to Fall 514.

We have some fun events planned for this fall. But as always please make sure to update your Character Sheets. Please remember to deduct your seasonal expenses from their ledger. Unless a player has contacted me, it is assumed they are common or higher. There are no beggars in the city; everyone works and are paid wages from the knighthood. There is no excuse for a citizen who lives in Syliras or the Mithryn outpost to have a lifestyle below common. Conversely, those living in the bronze woods and in the wilds may have Poor or Squalor living expenses when it makes sense.

Squires are reminded that they need to make a note in their ledgers for the graders when they deduct zero expenses. A simple "Summer 514 (Common) | - 0 GM* Squire of the Sylirian knights", is all that is necessary. Additionally those who are playing PC knights are reminded to deduct Common living expenses despite living a Good lifestyle. Please make a note of this for the graders as well.

Finally, I would like to remind everyone that deducting living expenses applies to ALL who played in Syliras (And by extension anyone who posted anywhere on Mizahar) during the summer months. No exceptions. At least two posts count and you will be expected to pay the full amount, whether you have all your job threads started/finished or not. If you forgot, now is a good time to post up job threads (Placeholders or otherwise) for FALL, that way you do not forget when the season ends and you can work on them throughout the Fall season. That way accidents don't happen.

Now on to other things.

As many of you have noticed, there is a new event scheduled for the beginning of fall. The Fall Seasonal Quest Terror In Stronghold sign up has been put up along with a number of prompts. For those of you who are not sure how prompts work here is a refresher:

Prompts are simply a scenario put up by me and given to those who are assigned to the prompts. The players then respond and react to the scenario as they would in a normal thread, typically playing off each other's responses. As the thread continues I will be following along and may make further posts to change and add to the scenes. When the thread is given a satisfying conclusion the players can then post it up in the grade queue.

At the time of this writing the quest and the prompts have been filled. However I will be putting up two more prompts for any who still wish to participate. If those fill up, a final two more prompts will be put up for a maximum of 7 Prompts. Prompts will then be started on the 7th and the quest will start on the 8th of September.

The Fall 514 Calendar has been also updated and can be found here: Calendar For Fall 514 A.V. Feel free to use any of the scenarios and setting changes in the Calendar. Events of interest include the Harvest Festival, the Winter Planting and a Forest Fire!

Any player who completes all 12 of the seasonal challenges will be given a fabulous prize!

If you missed out on the current quests, don't fret! We have at least two more quests and two more unrelated prompts looming over the horizon!

Hi Syliras!

As you can probably tell from the teeny tiny post count, I'm new! I'm also old (or at least my character kinda is!), but don't let that fool you: he's still got a few years of skull cracking left in him yet.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!


A quick rules type question before I get to work submitting my patron request: technically, Val has two patrons... the one he has now, and also the one he had originally back when he was 13. So that I can use him in flashbacks/etc, should I submit a patron request for both of them... or (because the original patron is presumably dead and gone by now), should I just worry about his current one? Thanks!

Hello Parzival!

To answer your question, yes. You would need to make two NPC patrons. Whether the previous is dead, missing or retired is up to you! (Or alternatively still active and available for another player to take on as an NPC) It would work regardless of what route you choose.
