I've always been of the mind that clubs tasted better with toasted bread...not books.

Lame jokes aside, count me in.

Sweet baby jesus, so many people...

I am very excited. The official launch date of the book club is February 3rd, so be prepared! Now then. I'd like to take this time to launch an official survey. How many people really would cringe at themed genre selection like romance, since it starts in February? I think I know the answer to this, but I thought I'd ask. Since I'm a benign dictator and all.

Also, if anyone is looking for an amazing read, check out Wool by Hugh Howey. I just finished it. The book is cheap, something like six bucks on Amazon. The plot is classic dystopia with a twist, which I've always been a fan of. And finally, it is very simply, incredibly well written. If you're looking for something to read in the interim, I'd totally recommend that.

I'd rather not do romance... *raises had*

And Wool IS an amazing book! I read it this Summer... I especially liked the plot twist :)

I'd rather not do romance either - but if it happens to be there on the side as a minor element I won't cry about it. :)

I can read in line with my preference on my own time. Present your choice, dictator. It will be devoured.

I've read great stories with the occasional romantic elements, of course, but never a book that was purely 'romance'. I'd rather not read a story where the only plot revolves around a chase after a love interest :(

P.S. For fans of the dystopian genre and The Hunger Games trilogy, I'd definitely recommend The Maze Runner and Divergent series before the movies come out :D

My experience of romance themed books is Twilight, Romeo and Juliet and Fifty Shades of Gray. Not a fan. However I do like it in my other genre books. What is a main character after all without their other half? Just not a fan of bleeding hearts and crazy, obsessed people.

Y'all have been reading the wrong romances. Mary Robinette Kowal. Look her up. Regency romance. She is fantastic.

Twilight and 50 Shades isn't romance, but badly written porn.

I would vote for a coming-of-age novel, which usually has some sort of romantic element or subplot while not focusing entirely on the romantic relationship. I think it would be especially interesting for roleplay writers, who develop characters over the course of so much time. I'm a big fan of John Green and John Irving.
I will be slow posting through this Spring. :( Sorry for any inconvenience or delay.

Unfortunally, it's what people associate with romance these times :/ Anyway I don't like romance books either, well not when the plot is solely about romance. I just can't keep myself interested in it. I don't mind romance as a subplot in a larger epic though :).
