November's Featured Character: Nira'lia! A model Konti and a lovely player, Nira'lia was great fun to interview! She is well spoken of by those who write with her and it's easy to see why. Join me in congratulating her on being character of the month! 1. So what brought you to the wide world of RP? I don’t really remember! I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing, and I remember that when I was younger, my friends and I used to take turns writing stories in a notebook… and I vaguely remember that back in high school, one of them pestered me to join an online writing RPG. I can’t really pinpoint exactly what got me started in RP, it’s just something that has always been around. 2. When was the last time Nira surprised you? Probably during the storyline with Imass, wherein he is trying to forcefully recruit her with the Knights because of the vision she saw of the Windoak. I’ve always thought of her of subservient, someone who accepts things even if reluctantly. But this time, her adamant reaction turned out to be an outright ‘NO WAY’. I guess that when it comes down to it, she just dislikes it when someone asides from her Goddesses drastically dictates her life. Yes, she absolutely hates the Knights right now. There, I said it. ![]() 3. What is your favorite thread to date, and why? Dirty Business, with Anton. It was unpredictable, largely because Anton seemed to be trolling me the whole time. The events in that thread were physically and mentally harrowing for my PC, and it was creepy for me as well. It’s probably my favorite because I had absolutely no idea what would happen every time I posted (again, Anton was trolling me). 4. What do you think are the elements that make a really good character? Depth and consistency. I know it takes a while to fully hear a character’s voice and to figure out who he or she really is, but once you do, I think it’s important to stick to it. For example, if you truly hate what your PC is about to do, then it just means that they’re probably a good character… because they’ve got their own voice. 5. Ok, Eri'lia as I like to call them, because I'm a teeny-bopper at heart. Adorable. How do you see them as a writer and how does the PC view them? Uhh. ![]() 6. What PC(s) have you not met IC thus far would you love to throw Nira in a room with? And Why? So much names! If I started listing them I wouldn’t be able to stop! For now, I’ll go with ‘more Konti PCs’. I haven’t had a chance to RP with a lot of Konti PCs yet. Since she was born as a Sunberth slave, Nira has never been to Mura, but I’m planning to get her there soon. That would be a good chance to immerse her with other Konti, and learn a thing or two from them. 7. What's your philosophy when it comes to writing with others? Don’t hate the writer, hate the PC. Teehee. Seriously, I think it’s important to differentiate IC from OOC. It’s very difficult, but IC and OOC shouldn’t cross paths. If you’re pissed at the PC, don’t let it out on the writer… and vice versa. I’ve just seen some people let things get out of hand because they let the two coincide, and I think it’s a bad idea. 9.Maybe you're not crazy like me, but characters I'm writing sometimes "talk" to me. Does Nira'lia ever do that? What are the conversations like? Bina, you cray-cray! ![]() 10. Where do you see Nira going in the future? Travelling the world, yaaay. She wants to go to Mura and join the Opal Order, and she also wants to travel all over the place. Seeing as she’s fairly young, Konti-wise, she’s got a lot of time to do her thing. Silly girl is going to outlive me, too. Well, Nira, you are my guinea pig for a new section in interviews. I canvassed some of your PC friends and frenemies to see what both they as writers and PCs would like to ask you about. I asked for one question in each category, but I forgot I was dealing with writers ![]() IMASS Writer to writer: I am very interesting in knowing how the world around you influences your writing in general (not just Mizahar). You are from another country and your perspective of life is very different from my own. Can you summarize what aspects of your personal life and how the people you interact with influence your writing? Granted, I’ve never asked, but I don’t think our perspective of life is that much different… lol. Imass, this is such a difficult question! When I think about it, I don’t think my personal life and the people around me influence my writing a lot. Apologies that I don’t have a deeper answer to this! It’s such a good question! Pc to PC: Despite Nira'lia's seemingly innocent nature, she is full of courage. Where/how do you find courage? What ideas do you champion (both verbally and no verbally)? What ideas do you detest? What is your philosophy for life? How do you live your life? (Ahem, in the voice of Nira'lia.) I find courage in Avalis and Rak'keli. As long as I'm doing it for them, such as for my oath to Rak'keli, then I find courage in that. My upmost priority is to help... That's the reason my Goddesses blessed me with a bit of their powers. What I detest is when someone or something sways me from this path... Such as when they try to make me do something aside from this. ERIDANUS Writer-to-Writer: You mentioned before that Nira is similar in some ways to yourself. Do you clearly separate the character from the writer? How do you objectively do so? There was a time when I thought we were similar, but as time passed, I realized that wasn’t really the case. Our main similarity is that we’re both compliant, though she’s more adamant about running away from what she really detests. I don’t really know how I separate character from writer, but I guess I somehow do. PC-to-PC (Eri to Nira): How do you see your future would be like with Eri and the Order? (any regrets, hopes, opinions). What would Nira have done without her Call? What would she have done differently without the Call? I'm sure I'll learn a lot from the Order, and I'll try to help as much as I can as well. I just hope this will all be worth, and I do think it will. If I weren't helping the Order out, I would probably still be stuck in Zeltiva at the moment. So I'm glad I received my Call, because I got the chance to see other places too. EVALIN Writer to Writer: Would you say that Nira'lia is a lot like you, a little like you or completely different? If she is different, even a little, are there any parts of her character that you find are difficult to write for or that are different from what you would do personally? She’s a lot more cheerful and idealistic than me, which I find SO annoying. I find it difficult to write for her when this happens. Nira’lia’s mindset is naïve and childish, the kind of mindset that a number of people (including me) don’t really like. I imagine that if I were talking to her, I’d like for her to just quit speaking altogether. PC to PC: I suppose if Evalin were to ever ask Nira'lia something it would be what she saw in her future. Where did she see herself going, and did she consider herself in control of her own Fate (of course Evalin and discussions on Fate go hand in hand XD). In the future... Hopefully, I'll be in Mura, and joining the Opal Order. I think they send their members to different cities, so I'll probably be traveling a lot too. Ideally, that's what's going to happen... But who knows, I'm not in charge of my own fate. Maybe there's something else in store for me. I don't know yet. I guess that answers your question about wether I think I control my own fate. |
