Weapons of Legend Challenge Weekend (22-23-24)

The challenge is to create a weapon that has, due to its history; where its been, how its been used, who has used it and what it can do, become legendary.

While the weapon's history makes it what it is, it's the name that stands the test of time. The name is what incites reaction at hearing it spoken; it is what inspires fear, confidence, faith or terror. So, be sure to name your weapon.

Develop the weapon's history. Where and how was it created? Was it created by mortals, gods or other? What has it seen or been through? Who has wielded it? What has happened to this weapon to make it legendary?

Of course no Legendary Weapon is worth its weight in djed without its powers and abilities. In order to avoid a potential Magical Arms Race, a number of potential powers have been selected and placed into two charts below. So, to begin the challenge, hop into Discord and get ready to dice (with witnesses of course). You will make two dice rolls. The first roll will be to determine your weapon's primary mystical property. The second roll will determine your weapon's secondary mystical property. Don't worry about the statistical aspect of the properties.

Primary Property List

1 - Roll twice and keep both results (ignore a roll of 1)

2 - Acidic Coating: Secretes a corrosive acid that coats the weapon's attack surface.

3 - Legendary Balance: Two-handed weapons can be wielded with one hand, one-handed weapons are weightless.

4 - Commanding Presence: Enhances one's force of personality; more intimidating, persuasive, seductive, etc.

5 - Berserker Rage: Ignore some amount of physical damage for a limited amount of time, wielder retains little self control.

6 - Disarmament: Makes opposing weapons more likely to be dropped when struck.

7 - Elemental Energy: Surrounded by a magical aura of either fire, ice or electricity.

8 - Quickdraw: Instantly appears in the wielder's hand, high likelihood of preemptive strike against opponent.

9 - Brutal Retribution: Wielder takes a hit and counterstrikes with brutal results.

10 - Concussive Force: Successful strikes cause explosions of force upon the target.

11 - Debilitating: High chance of hitting a critical part of the body.

12 - Health: Heal wounds and cleanse toxins on command

13 - Diseased: Causes rotting, festering wounds

14 - Reflective: High chance of reflecting targeted magic back on the one who cast it.

15 - Leeching: Drains djed from a target and transfers it to the wielder.

16 - Earthly Tremble: Causes the ground in the immediate area to violently quake and tremble.

17 - Bend the Wild: Inspires wild animals to ally with the wielder.

18 - Of the Sea: Command the waves; waterbreathing.

19 - Stormlord: Call upon thunder, lightning, rain and wind.

20 - Sentient: Has an average-above average intellect and personality (Choose form of communication).

21 - Darkest Night: On command can envelop the immediate area in impenetrable darkness.

22 - Unlife: Wielder does not need to eat, drink, breathe or sleep and does not naturally age.

23 - Deathslayer: Can hit any ethereal forms and causes terrible wounds to undead creatures.

24 - Lifedrinker: Rips years off of a victim's life and transfers them to the wielder.

25 - * Divinely Favored: Personally gnosis marked by a particular deity with 2 marks (Any deity except for Lhex).

* While a weapon can have divine influence in its creation, a Divinely Favored weapon possess 2 gnosis marks. The gifted ability will be very much like that of the 2-mark Gnosis with the weapon being either the focus for the marks or channeling it to the wielder if it is more appropriate for the specific marks.

Secondary Property List

1 - Roll Twice and keep both results (ignore a roll of 1)

2 - Glows when wielder is in danger.

3 - Made of Isurian Steel.

4 - Illuminates on command (equivalent of torchlight).

5 - Transforms into a mundane item of clothing or jewelry upon command.

6 - Chameleon-like camouflage upon wielder.

7 - Translate any language spoken to the wielder.

8 - Painful to the touch for all but the owner.

9 - (Illusion) Appear as a different race (true gender must be appropriate for gender specific race; wielder must be female to look konti).

10 - (Illusion) Appear as a different gender (of wielders actual race).

11 - Imparted with Izentor (indestructible and baring a bit of an isur's soul).

12 - Made of extraordinarily rare materials from another world.

Once you know what your weapon's properties are, name it and develop its history. You may submit up to 3 items (We are looking for quality over quantity). There will be a poll at the end. There will be goods to be had and all items submitted will have a chance of getting added to the game as historical Weapons of Legend.

Once again, I can't emphasize enough the importance of history and background in this challenge. Get creative! Tell us how your weapon gained its powers. Was it created to be magical? Did it gain its abilities over time and how? Were the gods involved in some way? My suggestion is to look at the prizes awarded for the past two challenges. They are magical items/minor artifacts with stories and history. Items like the Weapons of Legend, go even farther. They often have multiple owners and multiple stories that turn them into what they became. The powers you roll for can be taken in many directions as long as they adhere, at least at their core, to what your rolls dictate. If you get an Elemental Energy, what does it look like? Does it have a unique sound? Hell, maybe all of those around it feel a static charge when its drawn (if it is lightning of course). Questions of course are welcome to help you develop your own Weapon of Legend.

Going forward, in any future item challenges like this one, there will either be only one entry and thus one set of dice rolls allowed OR dice rolls will be made followed by the item being written up BEFORE dicing for the next entry. There have been too many instances of multiple rolls at once followed by the claim that multiple items are being rolled.

I will be checking chat logs for dice rolls so the first item you submit better be tied to the first set of rolls you made. Otherwise, your entry will be invalid. I want everyone to have fun with this but as I mentioned before, this is not a Magical Arms Race; that is why there is the random charts.

Rolled for 8 and 21 :)

Mouth of the Blasphemer

Image

Weapon Description

A grisly construction of ancient bone and leather, the Blasphemer is an ugly thing that radiates hate and power. A filed Myrian jaw serves as its blade, with the opposite side left with teeth and used for bludgeoning. Bloodstained human leather acts as its grip around a short hilt made of a broken humerus.

Weapon History/Background

Before the Valterrian lived Neti of the Scattered Bones, a Myrian woman of great pride and power. Though the world knew her better as a nighttime horror and creature of limitless savagery. Undefeated in battle and unmatched in prowess, she had a reputation of eating her slain foes on the battlefield, and collecting what was left of their corpses to create horrible maledicted fetishes. She moved at night, hunting her prey in the shadows. Thousands fell before her, and thousands more feared the wild laughter that roared on the wind of her bloodstained mouth. From their corpses she stitched a mantle of skins and fashioned a crown from their bones. When mortals fell too easily, she provoked the monsters, and when the last of the monsters fell she stood upon temples and laughed in the face of gods. For what could possibly oppose her now?

Even Akajia, the dispassionate goddess of night and shadows, was riled by the Myrian's arrogance. The goddess descended from the sky in all her finery to meet the legend. Crowned in Zintila's stars and dressed in shadows, she met Neti on the field of her most recent conquest. And like this, high off of victory and painted in blood, Neti laughed in the face of the goddess. With words dripping with venom she demanded the goddess fight her or forever be known as a coward.

Akajia claimed she did not come to fight, but had brought a gift for the warrior: the gift of humility. Then she lifted her hand and struck Neti blind.

Cursed with Nightstalking's negative gnosis, Neti lost her ability to see at night and became hunted by the very shadows she relied on. Everything not touched by Syna's light was an inpenetrable blackness to the warrior. Her enemies rejoiced, for the night was once again safe and the stalking horror had been tamed.

But Neti was not humbled as Akajia had hoped. Forced to retreat from the jungle and the shadows it contained, Neti's pride turned to rage, and rage festered into hate. She cursed the gods and all they took from her, and vowed to undo them, in any way she could.

So she hatched a plan; one last act to spit in the face of the gods and ensure her rage lived forever. For years she remained in her hut, eating only what was brought to her and sleeping only when her body fell unconscious, until finally she had crafted a Malediction circle of such power it was said to burn the eyes of those who looked at it. Then with the help of her lover, the healer Ibira, Neti crafted a weapon. She stripped the skin from the bottom of her own feet and crafted it into leather, she cut the arm from her shoulder and from the bone crafted a handle. Her jaw became the blade, she lubricated the whetstone with the liquids from her eye and she polished the blade with her severed tongue.

And when the weapon was assembled and the last circle carved, she pressed it to her throat. With her last breath she cursed the gods with her lipless mouth, and activated the fetish with her lifeblood.

Weapon Powers/Abilities[

The negative gnosis Akajia cursed Neti with lives on in her remains, but the malediction has warped its power and perverted its intended consequence to the wielders advantage. With a verbal command the circles activate and call to all shadows in the immediate vicinity. Everyone in the area will be plunged into complete darkness as angry shadows swarm the fetish, blinding all with the Nighstalking curse. Those who experience this darkness without the protection of the blade report strange, indecipherable whisperings, indescribable feelings of rage from the blackness and the paranoia of being watched.

The second, lesser ability worked into the bone by Neti is that of loyalty. To avoid the injustice of her curse again, the weapon must be won in fair battle. Those who try to take the blade by trickery or theft will experience an intense stabbing pain that makes it impossible to hold.

Last Known Location

Ibira, Neti's young lover, was the last known wielder of the weapon. Rumors of the Blasphemer's sightings are frequent but hard to prove. It is thought that Akajia herself is searching for the weapon and a way to destroy it.

Rolls: Main Mizahar chat- 7:06AM EST. 6/22/18
5 - Berserker Rage: Ignore some amount of physical damage for a limited amount of time, wielder retains little self control.

12 - Made of extraordinarily rare materials from another world.

Unstained Rage

Weapon Description: Unstained Rage has taken various forms over the years, though the metal has always stayed the same- that of an unknown metal of a dark silver coloration. Last seen as a full metal gladius made up all in one piece, with leather wrapped around the hilt portion as a grip.

Weapon History/Background: The metal that came to be known as Unstained Rage originated from a meteor landing in the Pre-Valterrian Alahean Empire. Crashing to Mizahar around 1,000 BV, it was found by a farmer when it landed in one of his fields and was brought to a famous smith of the era whose name has been lost to time. After hearing of its landing and trying to work it the unnamed smith quickly realized it was unusual.

With a magma forge he was able to refine the meteor into a metal that cooled to a dark silver coloration. The metal made workable, the unnamed smith began to make some small items out of the material. Finding it to be more of a curiosity than useful or special material, the smith took on a commission from a benefactor who was an Alahean military officer. Using all of the metal he forged him the blade of a greatsword, with a hilt of ebony and a crossguard of cold steel. It wasn't until the officer drew the blade in his first battle after receiving it that its unique properties were learned.

The military officer, a skilled swordsman but known coward and timid man, drew the blade against an oncoming advance of Suvan soldiers. As he drew the blade and his sword felled his first foe, a rage swept over him. He swept onward into the battle taking the front, and felled seven additional men before taking a crossbow bolt to the neck. He killed an additional two men before, choking on blood and unable to breath, he fell dead in the battle.

The story might have ended there, but for the fact that the Suvan soldiers won the battle. Picking over the field for spoils, a Suvan officer named Jacob Johnson noticed something odd. He found a man with a bolt in his neck, covered in blood, his clothes and armor soaked along with the ground around him with his own and others blood. The sword still clutched in his hand however appeared well made and none the worse for the battle, along with being an odd coloration. Remembering how the man had fought and intrigued by the blade he took it for himself.

Having taken possession of it, Jacob used it in his next several battles. He quickly learned that he fought differently while using it. Injuries, especially minor ones, could in the heat of battle be shrugged off for a time. Though once the battle cooled he quickly felt every cut and bruise. Along with this he found himself losing his inhibition in battle, diving into the forefront, but also unable to stop fighting once he got started. With the blade in his hand, Jacob and his unit won battle after battle, his skill and their superior numbers perhaps being a larger factor than the sword itself. Still, the weapon was named as the reason for their winning, their refusal to retreat, and their officers personal glory in battle. It was after a particularly bloody battle in which nearly every soldier was soaked in crimson that the blade finally earned its name, that of Unstained Rage, as it was said that Jacob's rage was the only thing left unstained by the crimson spray.

It was around this time that a Suvan battle mage, Lenton Smith, also noticed the blade and its peculiar properties. Arranging for Jacob to be positioned in the part of the unit that was to be sacrificed for the overall battle strategy, Jacob was killed in battle while taking down as the story goes two dozen men single handedly. Whether this is true or not is unknown, however it is known that Lenton “happened” upon the blade and took it for himself.

Lenton however did not keep it long, as he passed it along to one of his superiors, his uncle and World Mage Lassiter Smith. Lassiter, an Alchemist and Magecrafter, had the blade broken down and reforged as a longsword. The newly forged sword was returned to Lenton, while the remaining excess metal was kept by the mage. Bit by bit, Lassiter expended this excess material till none was left but a bit of fine djed leeched metal dust particles, using it in experiments with either magic till it was all made worthless and dead.

Carrying on the name of Unstained Rage, the new longsword of the unusual space metal seemed just as effective as the original, if smaller, while still creating the same effect upon the user. Shrugging off damage, a loss of control and a single minded blood lust forcing the wielder to continue fighting.

Through the next several hundred years the blade was wielded by countless men: broken, reforged, repaired, and reforged over and over countless times and into countless shapes.

It was around 500 BV however, that another piece was lost. A finite resource, once a piece was lost it could not be replaced, forcing the sword to slowly grow smaller and more refined in shape each time a portion was lost. In a battle between Suvan and Alahean soldiers and their respective mages, the blade was broken and a piece was voided by accident. The sword was left incomplete for many years, unused and almost forgotten.

Around 100 BV it was once more unearthed, almost forgotten by many, along with documents detailing its unique properties written by soldiers and wizards of Suvan centuries prior. It was at this time that it was passed on to yet another smith, who trying to prove his skill reforged it into its current shape, a gladius. At the time it had a fine oak hilt built around the end of the single unit of metal that was the blade, the metal going down fully through the hilt to the steel pommel. It however was not used at this time, passed on from one storage to the next, until just before the Valterrian. Though it is not known where exactly to or from, Unstained Rage was traveling across the Suvan empire when calamity struck in the shape of the Valterrian. The blade was lost for centuries, thought lost and growing forgotten by most and into a legend to those who remembered.

Come 450 AV, a Svefra by the name of Rose Jibrunner was exploring some ruins off the Suvan Sea with her pod when a wall collapsed and she came across a previously unexplored tunnel. The tunnel led into a basement which had been flooded at some point. After some work her crew was able to get inside, where they discovered a heavily rotted but still watertight case. Inside they found the remnants of the packing, and within lay the metal remnants of Unstained Rage. Replacing the missing hilt by wrapping it in leather, the weapon was once more ready to be used.

Taking the blade as her own, Rose was wielding it when attacking some human pirates when she discovered its capabilities. Launching into a bloody rage she killed three men, not noticing taking an arrow to her shoulder in the process till later. She quickly became known as a particularly bloody and dangerous Svefra, her pod often killing entire ships of people at once when boarding or raiding. Within a few years tales of the Svefra and her blade had spread, and one of the elders of another pod recalled the old legend of Unstained Rage and connected it to the blade Rose now wielded.

Her Lia, concerned for her over hearing of the blade and its possible history, approached her with the intent of convincing her to give it up. However Rose had by then grown attached to the blade and how it made her feel, invincible and able to take on any odds, and in a rage killed her own Lia. With no other choice she fled her pod, and attempted to survive in the only way she knew how, by becoming a pirate herself.

Joining with those same human pirates she'd once scorned and hunted, she took on a crew and began killing and pillaging travelers and Svefra sent to apprehend her. With this combined with her earlier actions the Svefra were left with no choice but to hunt her down and kill her.

Hunted by the entirety of the Svefra, it wasn't long before Rose was cornered. All but one ship she had taken over or commanded sunk, Rose was attacked in the middle of a torrential storm and her ship boarded. In the confusion of the attack Unstained Rage was lost overboard, carried away from the ship by the waves and storm.

Last seen in the Suvan Sea, it is believed to have washed up on shore somewhere accessible to the body of water, though due to the length of time since it was lost if it did wash up on shore it could have since been moved again or reacquired by someone. If anyone has found it, they have kept it quiet and not publicly used it, since no further stories of Unstained Rage have cropped up across Mizahar since Rose's ill fated last journey.

Weapon Powers/Abilities:
-Berserker Rage-The wielder of the blade ignores some amount of physical damage for a limited amount of time, wielder retains little self control.
-Made of extraordinarily rare materials from another world- The metal the blade is crafted from is an unknown alien substance not found on Mizahar.

Last Known Location: Suvan Sea around 450 AV.

Savona's Fang
Image

Description:

Made of the primary canine of a very specific Sabretooth Tiger, Savona's Fang is in essence a dagger of extreme age. The blade is a seven inch long canine tooth that gracefully curves to a deep coppery bronze hilt that is ornately carved with flowers and whirls of decor. The hilt is another five inches long. Made for a woman, this slender dagger has a grip that fits most average sized women's hands. The carvings are done with exquisite care so that when gripped none of the ornamentation gets in the way of the wielder's comfort.

History:

Savona Tomva was one of Marcus Kelvics chief Security Specialist. Her work revolved around personal protection and often involved large predatory Kelvics. Many current wolves and big cats can trace their lineage back to Savona Tomva's work. Her first successful Kelvic was Avakas. He was an enormous ebony Sabertooth Tiger that went on to become her personal bondmate. Avakas and Savona were inseparable. He became her personal assistant, a scientist in his own right, and went on to father her children. Avakas died of old age only a year before Savona passed from the world. Both their lives were long and happy, adding a tremendous amount of knowledge and know-how to Marcus' work at Ironrock. After Avakas' death, and with Savonas permission, his eldest son took his skull and utilized some of his magical know-how to turn both of his canine teeth into daggers. He gifted the daggers to Avakas' favorite granddaughter when she left Ironrock to travel to Pavena to work for Marcus' sister.

The Tomva family, since it was sired by a Kelvic, had a strong Kelvic Factor in its bloodline.

The second dagger was somehow lost during the Valterrian, but the first dagger remained unscathed and has been passed down through the Tomva bloodline until the Valterrian where it passed on to strangers. Since the cataclysm, the dagger has reappeared multiple times, mostly in families that have Kelvic Factors in their bloodlines much like The Tomva did.

Abilities:

Savona's Fang is a testimony to the Pre-Valterrian knowledge of weaponsmithing. Not harboring fancy flare or fireworks, instead this simple dagger comes instantly to ones hand in times of trouble. All the bearer has to do is will the dagger to be in their hand and it appears, moving instantaneously from wherever it is contained, be it a sheath or even deep in the bottom of a backpack. This equates to a high likelihood of a preemptive strike against an opponent. Much like a Kelvic knows its bondmate when it finds them, Savona's Fang knows who legitimately owns it. Ownership can change through purchasing or finding the weapon. However, it has never been known to recognized a non-kelvic or a non-kelvic factor bearing bloodline as its owner. If someone who does not own Savona's Fang touches it, picks it up, or even tries to claim it... they will be infused with an incredible pain that will not stop until they cease their attempts at either handling or claiming the dagger.

Last Known Location:

Savona's Fang was last owned by a Kelvic scientist, Kevnar Tasinfa, who worked at Riverfall's Antiquities Society as a archaeologist. It is currently housed in the musem's collection because it was donated to the Antiquities Society at his passing. The Society could be persuaded to sell or donate it if the right person comes along, especially if that person could prove direct descent from Savona Tomva.

Weapons of Legend Challenge Weekend (22-23-24)

Postby Nellie Hawkins on June 23rd, 2018, 5:18 am

(Rolled 5, then 9 in Discord main chat 06/22)
Image

Unassuming and unremarkable, this weapon appears to be nothing more than a simple blacksmith’s hammer, and that is largely how it has been used these many years. It is only when used in defense of hearth and home that a hint of its mystical powers is revealed. When wielded, the bearer is able to fight without the distraction of minor to moderate physical injury, although injuries sustained will present themselves accurately after a time. To aid the bearer, he (or she) will briefly take on physical attributes of an enemy killed by the hammer – although if fighting with allies, this confusion can prove to be more detrimental than beneficial.

Tovik was a humble man, but a blacksmith of great skill content to spend his life in the small village in Kalea where his family had lived for generations beyond memory.

Linnea was a scholar, passing through the village with a caravan on the way to Lhavit, where she was determined to become a master of both morphing and glyphing.

But Lhex intervened and one day, for the barest instant, Tovik and Linnea crossed gazes and their plans were lost to love. For a time, the two were settled happily in Tovik’s village, where he plied his trade making serviceable, if plain, tools and weapons for daily use. Through minor glyph work and small, self-taught morphing, Linnea kept herself amused in the small home they shared while Tovik worked in his smithy, but the blacksmith knew her heart was restless and eventually they made plans to travel onward.

As the day of their departure neared, Tovik and Linnea were equally busy: he with closing up his smithy for the final time, and she with packing their belongings for the long journey ahead. As night drew close around him, Tovik made his way from the forge to home, to Linnea, and to a heartbreaking scene:

Thieves had come to take advantage of an unguarded home in the chaos of packing, and had caught Linnea unawares – with no time to protect herself, Linnea was quickly overpowered and suffered brutally at the hands of the 5 men as they first sated themselves with her flesh and then set about gathering what they could of her possessions as she lay, broken and bleeding, at their feet.

It was this sight that greeted Tovik as he approached the home he’d shared with his love. The sight of Linnea, hard floor around her wet with her own blood, and the thieves casually rifling through the remnants of his home, laughter and crude remarks peppering the air around them broke something in Tovik and he charged mindlessly at them.

Muscles long born of heat and hard work bunched and clenched as he raised his blacksmith’s hammer with a bestial roar and swung on the nearest of the vile troupe. The dull gleam of the hammer’s head buried itself in the skull of one victim, bone gave way almost too easily to Tovik’s rage, painting the hammer in pink, in red, and in the gray viscera that had so recently been a man.

Barely conscious, Linnea yet forced her eyes to watch – though he was too late to save her, her heart was comforted to have seen her blacksmith one last time. Covered in blood and nearly unrecognizable as he swung the hammer repeatedly into his foes, Tovik had never looked more wonderful to the scholar. As he felled another opponent, Linnea’s lips moved, silently forming the words that would activate the only protection that remained to her: Tovik would be too distracted to notice the small glowing glyph at the base of his hammer – and would have been amused by it, in other circumstances – but his remaining enemies would experience momentary confusion when the towering blacksmith seemed to shrink and morph into one of their fallen comrades.

The energy this cost was the end of Linnea, just as the confusion it caused gave Tovik a small advantage, allowing him to dispatch yet another brigand in a brilliant spray of blood and bone. But Tovik was tiring, and was not as unharmed as he felt. With a desperate cry, he launched himself at the two remaining men, swinging mightily in his blinding zeal to see an end to those who’d defiled and stolen Linnea from him. The brutal attack was only partially successful – the final tally saw six bodies on the floor of the little cottage that day: Linnea, looking small and still and broken on the floor surrounded by the decimated and unrecognizable bodies of 4 of her attackers and the body of her husband, the blacksmith Tovik, somehow fallen in such a way as to imply a protection and a love that transcended the mortal world.

The final villain escaped with his life, Tovik’s hammer, and a tale of the man himself who had seemed to fight with no regard for his own safety, through blood loss and blows that would have sunk another to his knees, and the odd shifting features of his face that may have been no more than a momentary confusion in the heat of battle. Though the man was never able to recreate Tovik’s amazing feat of vengeance in his lifetime, the weapon and the story have been passed on until the tale itself seems nothing more than a fanciful campfire story. But the hammer waits for a worthy cause and a worthy hand to wield its powers once again.

Last seen in 497AV, in an unnamed tavern on the outskirts of Lhavit, gleaming dully on the belt of a blacksmith widely considered to be a good man - but descended from the sole surviving evil man who raped and killed a young woman and barely escaped with his life.

Weapons of Legend Challenge Weekend (22-23-24)

Postby Belugnir on June 23rd, 2018, 9:57 am

Ugnir went and rolled for an 8 and a 2 respectively, challenge chat... 18 hours prior to posting this? Petch me in the eye.

Anyway, first y'all get a meaty hunk of exposition.

The Fabled and Arcane Armaments Of Old – A Study

Observations written by one Gavindarm Mornum, scholar of historical epics and artifacts, year 508 AV:

On the matter of Roza-Kasai

"The great majority of the manuscripts that I have come to find in regards to this weapon agree on it that it was a spear, with few variations that refer to the object as either a lance or javelin. In several stories it has also been branded by several different names, including the ancient tongue equivalents of such overbearing titles as: 'Baleful Hope', 'Gloomsfall' and 'Lord Piercer'.

However, its dominant name, translating roughly into 'Hope's End', stems from the following scripture, describing the supposed resolution of a large scale conflict between Alahea and Suvan which supposedly occured between the years 1100 BV and 800 BV (multiple disagreeing sources found). Bearing in mind the following is but a minor writ cut out of what is likely far removed from accurate historic registry, it reads as:

''...it had been four years of ceaseless bloody conflict when the greatest armies of Alahea came to hold a decisive front against the Suvan hordes. And so Rudjund, gutless trickster and falsely courageous champion of the warmongering Suvan army challenged the fair, thrice blessed Dillion who stood head of the Alahean vanguard.

Rudjund's proposal was a duel with spear and shield and sword to decide which side ought to claim the land that they treaded upon. And as wise and kind as Dillion was, he accepted this proposal, agreeing that the two generals should see to it that the waste of their brethren’s lives no longer comes to pass...

...And so Alahea's beacon of hope drove his foe before him. With their swords broken, their shields hewed, and their spears abandoned in the act of hurling at one another, Dillion would have overpowered Rudjund with his bare hands. Yet the Suvan coward resorted to a most honorless treachery.

As he fled before his enemy, Rudjund called out to his foul spear, and the weapon flew to his grip from where it was hurled upon the ground. And so the Suvanese turned and hurled his weapon anew from a close distance, and pierced Dillion, rending him with wounds that seared in corpse-light. Yet the Alahean Lord, justly infuriated by this trickery, gave further chase in spite of his injury, fiercer than before...''

The text continues to describe the continuation of this duel at great length and detail, most of which is, for all professional purposes, likely naught but pure fantasy, as the writer, who is most likely of Alahean origin, considering obvious bias presented against the mentioned Suvan armies, stemming from such that he would refer to the western legions as savage hordes and that the name of the Suvan leader of the scenario frankly translates to one or other manner of ‘Imperfect’ or ‘Abominable’. The writer also goes on to describe this one Dillion’s effort to grab hold of his enemy and snuff the life from them in spite of suffering impossible wounds on top of physically exerting himself to utterly ridiculous proportions.

Seeing as multiple versions of this myth revolve around a similar event, the majority of which I could trace to high likelihood of originating from old Alahea, and considering the fact that the names of characters involved vary greatly from tale to tale, some versions going as far to refer to this ‘thrice blessed Dillion’ as a war golem of such high craftsmanship that it had attained a depth of mind so great it overshadowed that of his creators and claimed a rank of duty and honor among the Alahean army, and other ridiculous propositions that ‘Dillion’ was such a thing as an Alvina fighting on behalf of the Alaheans… I am forced to utterly dismiss the truthfulness of the myth itself, seeing as too many sources disagree on the outcome, the scenario, and the very identities of the parties, and that a vast portion of them indulge in self-righteous tone that borders idiocy. Ironically enough, Roza-Kasai, along with most later weapons of its sort that it may have inspired, are referred to mostly by the name it is branded with in this particular tale, in which it served as the bane of Alahea’s ‘hope’, one that was personified in the overly glorified portrayal of their commanding officer.

However what is interesting here, even though they are not described in great detail, are the properties of the weapon that was used to fell the idealized Alahean officer, and the fact that they are mostly shared throughout the different sources. Namely, there is clear mention of ‘Rudjund’ recalling the weapon to his side and throwing it multiple times across the fight in order to kill his opponent. And while the myth itself I must dismiss as biased hogwash, it is somewhat possible that one or another manner of a confrontation took place in which an enchanted spear was a major factor to deciding the conflict’s outcome.

I have come across multiple other texts describing a strikingly similar weapon, few of which originate possibly even before 1100 BV, although most of the scriptures in question are evaluated to have been written over six hundred years later. The texts, with few rather easily disregarded variations, mostly agree on the fact that the object in question was a spear, or other spear-like instrument of war, capable of manifesting within the hand of its wielder upon command in some capacity or other. An additional, interesting, though not as often described property of the spear was its tendency to cast an eerie, unsettling light, mostly during battle, though there are occasional exceptions to this, as the texts go on to describe, one example being the supposed log of a Suvan officer who assumedly wielded one such spear during a particularly hazardous trek through poorly lit, forested terrain.

‘’…and so I bore the blade of un-light before me, and it guided my path through plight and peril ‘till I came face to face with my comrades and its dim shine faded completely…’’

The exact nature of this ‘Unlight’ property is never explained in proper detail in the translations I have come across, however, as mentioned, a heavy majority of the manuscripts confirms that the weapon possessed some attribute that would cause it to cast unnatural light off of its blade.

Finally, the most vaguely described trait of the weapon is the appearance of some sort of ‘mark’ or ‘brand’ signifying the entitled bearer of the weapon. While the details are heavily unclear, the mention of this brand appears oft enough, and never with being attributed to some deity or other, to lead me into dismissing the few theories I’ve had in regard to the possibility of the spear being a bestowment granted by deific entities.

From the texts I have managed to translate and study, it would appear that the fabled Roza-Kasai , or some variation there-of, was indeed a weapon crafted within the Suvan Empire, possibly going as far as originating around 1400 BV, however the proper nature of its creation and the exact time of its conception, along with the original craftsman might never be discovered.

One later text seems to attribute the spear’s creation to one Velis Igraal, unsurprisingly, I’ve learned after reading excessively about the man, as he seems to have been a widely known magesmith of his time. However I must discredit this assumption, as, according to the majority of the scriptures, descriptions of the spear predate Igraal by possibly over a whole millennia. A… somewhat plausible theory, however, is that Velis might have attempted to re-create the weapon, or perhaps even manufacture it in an effort to tip the balance of power in a way that could end the ongoing struggles between his homeland and Alahea, though the flaws of this theory shall be explained forthwith.

While I am not a man well versed on matters of war and logistics, I have found details that would suggest the dismissal of assumptions that a weapon of multiple magical properties could have been massively produced in the Suvan empire of anywhere between one and two millennia ago, as by that time both Suvan and Alahea had oft been heavily exhausting their resources on the excessive struggle between the two nations. And while a weapon akin to Roza-Kasai would indeed be a powerful tool, I believe there would have been more practical investments to the Suvan war-effort. This belief stems from the fact that magecrafted weapons of Roza-Kasai’s caliber would be overly expensive to create, especially by the hundreds.

Finally, the latest recordings I have found of the infamous spear predate the Valterrian by somewhat less than a century, and go to mention the weapon being captured, along with the Suvan officer who possessed it, to be used as a hostage. Though no further detail is given, and understandably so, as I imagine the Alahean scholars of the time had concerns that were far more pressing to them.

Inference:

Roza-Kasai was, almost doubtlessly, a product of complex magecraft, originally conducted by an unknown magesmith of Suvan origin, anywhere between 1400 BV and 600 BV. And was involved in resolving at least one major conflict between the two warring empires, with plausible evidence that it, or a weapon akin to it had been part of several, lesser skirmishes, and that the weapon was almost exclusively wielded by members of the Suvan army. Due to its excessive mention across records from the middle of the last millennia before the Valterrian, it is possible that multiple re-creations of the spear were made for the sake of being bestowed as reward upon the distinguished officers of the Suvan armies. There is also a plausible possibility of the famous magesmith, Velis Igraal’s involvement in at least one re-creation of the spear in question.

When it comes to the weapon itself, it has a definitive trait of being able to appear within its current wielder’s grasp upon their command, with the likelihood of being capable of producing a sort of wrapped light upon its blade while in said wielder’s grasp. Additionally, a branding ritual of some form was most likely involved with distinguishing the entitled wielder or owner of the weapon in question. As for the weapon’s physical appearance, it mostly revolves around the spearhead in particular, the most established description involves a heavily tempered, slender steel blade which should stand around two feet in length. There is no distinction made of the weapon’s handle, leading to the assumption that it was an irrelevant extension and that the spearhead itself was the only component of the spear enhanced with magic.

As of yet, I have found no records mentioning Roza-Kasai, or another weapon akin to it that have been made after the events of the Valterrian."

Image
(Ye get a fancy image of the spearhead because Ugnir is a lil' twit who can't draw his shite the way he imagines it to save his life. Lucky buggers.)

Appearance/Abilities

The appearance of the original spearhead would be a two foot long blade, forged and tempered into giving off a dim teal tint, with the blade heavily inscribed with glyphs that loosely follow the patterns formed upon it during its tempering. (Basically, consult the image above with the prospect of the pokety-poke bit being twice as long as displayed.)

While the spearhead itself is the only enchanted component, it is compatible with any metal or wooden handle that it might be attached to, as, for the purpose of the enchantments added to it, it has been stressed that the ensuing weapon shall, in it's wholesome, be considered 'the spear'.

To invoke either of Roza-Kasai's powers, first it must be assigned a proper wielder. This is accomplished by having an individual carve out a specific set of runes specified upon the weapon's blade into either side of either palm of their hands, preferably using the spearhead itself.

Once this is completed, the weapon shall, upon a vocal command decided by the individual owner at the time of their claiming of the weapon, hurl itself to have its assumed handle within the grip of the user's marked hand.

Roza-Kasai's secondary enchantment is also reliant on the established ownership. Namely, in the event that it is held by its branded owner, the spear shall be able to sense potential harm befalling its wielder, and will, as a response, coat itself in an eerie aura of sickly pale light, the intensity of which may slightly vary depending on the severity of the danger at hand.

Eldingar

Weapon Description:
Eldingar is a bronze battle axe with a regular axehead in the front, but with a large spike on the opposite side. Eldingar is roughly 21 inches long and weighs little more than 2 pounds. The axehead has a golden bronze-orange-brown hue and is richly decorated. The handle is made of oak and somehow treated to prevent rot. Most of the axe show clear signs of use in combat, with scrapes and nicks blemishing the decoration and handle.

Weapon History:
Eldingar is an ancient weapon crafted even prior to the six millenia long Suvan War raged across the continent. It was crafted by Heldilg the Whispered, a mage who had through the years grown ever more delusional and paranoid and the Sweet Whispers slowly drew out the last vestiges of sanity from him, feeding his delusions of both grandour and paranoia. His paranoia drew him towards creating a powerful weapon that could guard him from his many enemies and a weapon that could not be used against him. Inspired by Wysar and his gnosis Evantia, he imagined to create a weapon that allowed him to sense the moves and motives of his enemies – as he assumed they were always plotting his downfall. He failed in that regard, for Eldingar almost worked the opposite.

The weapon never was of much use to Helding, as he soon succumbed to the sweet whispers and violently attacked the room with the weapon. Fending off imagined enemies in a last desperate stand, but as he lay dying, his servants, summoned by the sounds of violent battle, found him dying on the floor. The first servant to grab the weapon, felt a painful jolt of electricity surge through his body and he screamed out in pain. The moment Helding breathed his last breath and Dira claimed him – the weapon became ownerless and anyone could wield the weapon.

The weapon was used extensively during the millenias long Suvan War and often changed hands as the owner died and their body looted. The weapon gained its legendary status when a renowed commander of a company got his hands on the weapon. A fierce warrior and skilled tactician whose company was often seen in the thick of the fighting – his men familiar with the aura the weapon emited, but their enemies, often taken by surprise as they felt the sudden tingling aura, enough to give the company a decisive edge in many battles and skirmishes. The company was later named The Eldingar Company, named after the first commander who picked up the weapon. It was almost impossible to be in the same camp as Eldingar's company without knowing about the weapon, as it constantly surrounded itself with the tingling electric aura.

When Eldingar, the man, died during battle, the entire battlefield felt the tingling sensation stop. Eldingars second in command seized the weapon from his hands and fought on in his name and Eldingars Company that had been disheartened by the loss of their commander, felt reinvigorated and fought even harder. Since then, it became customary for the commanders of Eldingars Company to adopt the weapon. Its abilities often grossly exaggerated by its enemies and Eldingars company swore that they felt stronger within its aura.

Weapon Powers/Abilities:
Eldingar was given two abilities by Heldilg, one of the intended, the other – not so much. The first ability that was intended, was the weapon being utterly loyal to its wielder. It will not permit anyone even touch the weapon. Anyone who touches the weapon, will feel an electric-like jolt of pain. The second ability, that almost worked opposite Heldilg intended, is the weapon constantly emits and aura of eletricity, that tingles across the skin of enemies and foes alike, only the wielder is unaffected.

Last Known Location:
It was in the hands of the latest commander, Valdier, of Eldingars Company when the Valterian struck. The company had been mid-transition from the Suvan Empires western province, taking care of a minor uprising when the Watchtowers and their network became unstable. It is not known what happened to the weapon. It might be floating around in the void or been teleported to a watchtower somewhere.
