Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Cosimo Nayt on November 20th, 2014, 2:46 pm

Cos believed that he was ready to apply to be a Mage Squire. No. He didn't believe he was ready,He knew he was ready. His father had taught and repared him for thisday for several years. Sure,he still had lots to learn, but he believed he knew more than the other fresh recruits. Of coursse, he wouldn't boast about it. Hopefully.

Strolling over to the Dyres building, Cosimo jumped over the threshold and walked inside. Once in, he observed a sparsely decorated room and several other recruits. Like him. Cos didn't even know what race several of them were.

"Ahem. Name and Purpose of being here please!" a person stated and stared at Cosimo.

"Cosimo De Nayt. I'm applying to follow my dream of becoming a Mage Knight. First, though,I need to be a squire."

"Follow me please!" the person at the front desk stood up and led Cos through alleys and passageways to the deepest part of the city. It looked to be very ancient. Once there, he was confronted by a wrinkled man who was missing an arm and part of his ear. Interesting.

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

84th of Fall, 514 AV

Today was meant to be a regular day for Jaymz. He would wake up in his apartment that he shared with no one in the Maiden District, stretch out all of his restless muscles, and make himself a quick breakfast. In fact, he did do this. Afterwards he would pull on his one set of clothing, a pair of loose pants, a simple shirt, and would probably leave behind his sandals, he wouldn't be needing them today. He did this too.

Today he planned on going to the Windmount Track for running. It wouldn't be necessary to bring shoes as, well, horses don't wear shoes. So he left the Maiden District at a brisk pace, barefoot, walking with purpose. His head held high and his eyes up, making him seem even taller, which was unnecessary as he already towered over the average citizen. It was the Dyres District to his right that caught his attention that day though.

He stopped in his tracks, surprising the few people who were walking behind him. They went around, shooting glares at him as they did so. He ignored this. Something was compelling him today, something, an outside force, made him stop in his tracks and take an interest in the military district.

Tanroa, I understand what you intend. I will apply for the knights today. Jaymz sent a quick prayer to the goddess he worshiped. It was his time. Everyday he walks right past the Dyres District, not feeling the desire to go inside. Of course he had been slightly interested, but he waited for a sign. And today he got it.

Walking inside the Dyres District, he was instantly stopped by a man, still shorter than him, but obviously someone more experienced.

"State your business." The man demanded in a gruff voice. Jaymz lifted his usual scowl to a half-attempted smile then let it drop. Smiling was uncomfortable, unnecessary.

"I suppose, I intend to apply to the Order of the Knights." He explained shortly. The gruff man with a hint of stubble and obvious definition just grunted and nodded, then walked off. Jaymz assumed he was meant to follow, and did so.

The man led Jaymz through the Dyres District, further and further into the castle until he stopped short in front of a small building with the door open.

"Through there, you'll speak to Ser Erik. He'll be sitting at the desk." The man that led Jaymz through told him, then walked off. Jaymz studied the little building, the people around, the door. It was nice, not nearly as run down as the Maiden District. The floors were a gray stone and the floor to ceiling windows were a nice touch. Jaymz had never been in this district, even though he had lived his entire life in Syliras, and was impressed. The ceiling was decorated and everything looked typically clean.

He wasted no more time and instead entered the building, where immediately a man could be seen behind a desk, writing with his left hand, as the right arm was missing. Jaymz scoured the man's face, noticing his impressive collection of scars and the part of his ear that was missing. He was obviously a veteran of the cause.

Jaymz walked in further until he was standing in front of the man at the desk, and stood up as straight and tall as he could.

"Hello, Ser Erik," Jaymz recalled the name that the man who led him here had used, "Today it is my intent to apply to the Order of the Syliran Knights. I wish to aid in the protection of the wonderful city I live in." He used his usual calm, collected voice. Not booming but not too quiet to be heard either. Usually he spoke slowly, making clear that there were spaces between each word. Some might consider the slowness in his speech a sign of simplicity or ignorance, but that is not so.

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Zydrunas on December 2nd, 2014, 10:44 am

20th Winter 514 AV

There was a strange level of fascination that existed within the Dhani when he first saw them. Men clothed in metals, the shining pauldrons and the upholding of the laws of the city and playing the guiding hand in leading the people. It was much different to the dream state of a city he last visited, the bright colours fading away into duller shades - but still equally pleasant, if not cold. Questions lead him only to more questions, and a want for answers pushed him enough to this very point. Zydrunas gave a rock on his heels, a lean in through the door of the recruitment office and hovered there for a moment - deciding if he truly wished to sate his curiosity or if it was growing into something much more interesting. It was only then that he took that final step in, fingers brushing away the dusting layer of 'snow', and let the door click shut behind him.

Clearing his throat, he gave a firm step across the office - remembering the respectable, silent nod and meeting of the eyes to the wizened looking knight. There was of course that momentary pause as he noticed the missing arm, the brow pinching slightly and his head tilting - cat like in movements - before he continued forward once more. It was only then, with a clearing of his voice but his accent still heavy of his home region, that he spoke.

"I am Zydrunass," he paused, flexed his jaw for a moment with a wince to his speech, "And I am here to pledge to joining the order. The way in which you aid the people and be their sss-heild... it be appealing and a thing I would like to try and do. Protect. Help. Do good." There was a smile - though it was a nervous one - "While I am not a local, I hope there will be... consssideration?"

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Katelyn Marks on December 2nd, 2014, 9:15 pm

38th, Fall, 514 AV

Katelyn had thought long and hard before she made her decision. She sat with her brothers for several cold nights discussing what this would mean for her. Her life would change completely--and that's exactly what she wanted. It had been that realization that led her here today, being escorted into the Recruitment Office deep within the Dyres District. It made her realize how little of even Syliras she had seen, sheltered behind the walls at the Outpost. The older Knight escorting her had kindly agreed to show her the way when he found her obviously lost and roaming in search of help.

"Ser Erik is a good sort," the Knight explained as they made turns she would never remember down halls she could never hope to find again on her own. "Just be upfront and honest with him. He's a good judge of character. That's why he have so many fine squires coming through lately. Hard working lot they are."

It was impossible not to be optimistic now, though she hadn't been nervous in the first place. Really she'd just been morose and brooding since her brother Garreth had been killed. Katelyn wasn't afraid to admit it. After all, she hadn't smiled since they found him--and smiling was one thing she used to do quite a bit of. She wouldn't delude herself by denying the obvious grief and anger she felt every single day when she woke up and went to bed. This was just her way of doing something better than crying by the fire.

"Here you are," the Knight piped up, and she realized they'd stopped in front of what she assumed to be Ser Erik's office.

"Thank you," she offered sincerely, and he left her with a parting smile a firm handshake.

Katelyn stood outside for a moment, staring at the door. There were people far more qualified than she to do something like this, but Katelyn had decided that she didn't want anyone else to have to go through what he family had. The marauders that had taken Garreth's infectious smile away from them forever were long gone, but there were others out there--waiting for her. And she would be there to meet them.

She opened the door and stepped inside to face the grizzled looking Knight who would take her application. He looked every bit a warrior that she could possibly imagine--missing arm and all. But he smiled when she entered, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Katelyn moved across the office floor to present herself at his desk. She had cleaned her winter clothes and washed thoroughly, though the day long trip over had undone some of the preparation.

"Ser Erik," she began slowly. "My name is Katelyn Marks. I have ridden from the Mithryn Outpost to express my interest in joining the Order as a Squire in service to Syliras."

She'd rehearsed that in her head for days.

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Treachery on January 11th, 2015, 3:21 am

4th of Winter, 514A.V.

The recruitment office had been a lot more difficult to find than the guard had told him. Syliras was bigger than the Zith had first anticipated with a lot of very similar looking areas. It also stank so his nose was useless along with his ears that seemed to pick up every conversation in the castle at once. Having wandered lost for a few bells, he was finally able to procure directions of some youngsters in exchange for carrying them and letting them examine his wings. It was laughable how little they feared him, not yet having been taught of his race's reputation. But the Zith been enjoying the attention he was receiving too much to bother educating them.

Now stood in front of a well aged oak door, Treachery felt a little nervous. The same could be said for the metal dressed man behind him. The human had taken on himself to escort the Zith from the Dryes District, where his under-age guides had taken him, to the office's door, keeping annoyingly close the entire way. Even now Treachery's wings twitched slightly as the man breathed behind him, a growl being width held in an effort to appear social. Had he been back in his old life with his family, anyone that had the nerve to invade his personal bubble like this would have already felt his claws. Eager as his reluctant companion to part ways, a clawed fist rapped against the door before the Zith entered the room.

There was only one occupant in the room beyond, a scared older man. He reminded Treachery a little of the older members of his past family, even more was the mental parallel to himself upon spotting the lack of a right arm. His ear was missing too. Seemed protecting this city was no less dangerous as protecting any other type of colony. Unsure as what he was meant to do, the Zith took a few timid steps forward trying not to slouch. This was the place he was meant to go so what exactly was he meant to do here? Deciding that the man in front of him was as good a man as any to ask, the Zith searched his brain for the correct words.

“Hello, I be looking for place to join knighthood. Be this that place?”
Due to exams probably won't be posting again until after the 20th of May

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Arthur Crownsgard on January 15th, 2015, 1:04 am

6th of Winter, 514 A.V.

Arthur knew the halls well that snaked their way through the cobblestone labyrinth that was the Stormhold keep. It had been years since he was first brought to this foreign world he was suppose to call home. This alien place was one that was ruled by order and stability, so to a Drykas youth, who had only known the freedom of the Sea of Grass, it felt like being confined in a stone cage. And like a wild animal that was caged, Arthur had tried fighting tooth and nail as he tried to break free. Yet, that savage lad had eventually learned to love and respect those halls that he now find himself call home. He loved it with such a passion that he was willing to put his life on the line to fight against those that would dare to try to take away his home from him again.

It was not only that willingness that led him to join the Sylrian Knights though, it was also the responsibility that he felt he had to honor to his adoptive father, Ser Henry Crownsgard, Sergeant Knight of the Sylrian Knights. The elderly knight accepted the wild Drykas youth as a son with open arms, ignoring the muttered words of disapproval, even the ones that came from his own wife's tongue. That unending patience and acceptance that came from the man was all the more reason Arthur felt that he should join the Sylrian knights. So it was with Henry's approval that he decided to finally follow his dreams.

Arthur could have easily made his way to the office of that old grizzly knight, Ser Erik, but it was protocol that led him to be escorted to the Recruitment Office. Arthur prided himself in knowing the names of the knights that were stationed at the Stormhold Keep; however, no matter how hard he tried the man's name eluded him. It seem though that man seem to know his as he spoke to him, "Oi, aren't you that Drykas lad that Ser Henry had adopted. Arthur, right? Following in yer father's footsteps I see?"

"Ai, I am. I felt like it was finally me turn to serve the people of Sylria the best way I can," Arthur answered as they turned a corner coming to the door that led to the Ser Erik's office.

The knight stopped and gave Arthur a hearty smack on his back, a grin cracked across the man's face, "Ye will do your father proud son, I can tell. And I am sure that ole Erik will be able to see the same." The knight then turned and began heading down the hall, but he stopped at the corner and bellowed down to him, "Oi Arthur, tell yer ole man that Boran said he got a hell of a kid."

Then the man disappeared out of Arthur's side as he turned the corner. Without a moment to wait Arthur grasped the knob of the door and entered the room. Ready to start a new chapter in his life.

Many who would have saw Ser Erik for the first time when they entered through that door would have been taken back by the sight of the man's wounds. He had met Ser Erik once prior when he was younger, and he knew that man behind the wounds was a friendly one. Arthur slid his fingers through his golden locks as he presented himself to the grizzled knight, "Greetings Ser Erik. I'm not sure that you remember but I had met you once with my father, Ser Henry Crownsgard. My name is Arthur Crownsgard. I am here to pledge myself to the Sylrian Knight order."

Syliran Order Recruitment Office

Postby Claudia Blackwood on February 16th, 2015, 12:14 pm

81st of Winter 514 AV

It was a long time coming. She felt ready. More than ready in fact. She had trained herself hard in the anticipation of being one of the order. Claudia left her home shortly after lunch, done with what could possibly the last set of chores she carried out in her father's blacksmith. She was brimming with excitement. Dressed in one of her newest, cleanest white cotton shirt, accompanied by an equally clean brown cotton pants, she left the building she grew up in, ready to embark on a new chapter in her life.

She had done her reconnaissance earlier on, and knew exactly where the recruitment office was. One must always be prepared for any mission one does. Located in the Dyres District, one had need to express interest to join to any of the guards stationed there, and they would happily direct potential candidates to the recruitment office.

Making her way to the the district, she happily told the guard that she'd like to join the knights. One of the guards cheerfully gave Claudia a toothy grin as he told her to follow him. The guard led her through a maze of winding corridors before arriving at one of the oldest parts of the city. The guard then lifted an arm as he pointed at the building in front saying"Here we are, look for Ser Erik Rainstrom. Good luck lass!" before strolling off, back to where he came from.

Smoothing down her shirt, and pants, Claudia straightened her hair, and tried her best to contain her excitement as she stepped through the door, into the building. She noticed a bearded aged man sitting on a table scribbling away on a scroll, quill in hand. He seemed to be missing his right arm and most of his left ear, but that only seemed to make him more of a testament of how committed the knights are to their Order. This must have been the knight the guard had told her to seek.

Walking up the him with confidence, she looked directly at him, as she said "Good day to you Ser, I'm here today to apply to be a squire. I hope to be a knight one day."Before the knight could answer, she went on "You'll probably ask as to why do I want to be a knight. Well, let me tell you. I've always admired the Knights of Syliras from a young age."

Shuffling her feet, she continued on "I love how dedicated and committed they are to preserving the peace and stability of the city. How they do not hesitate to help the unfortunate, and to hunt down the miscreants and bandits. Without them, Syliras would not be the peaceful city it is today. I hope to continue in the line of tradition, of keeping the peace and serving with dedication, honour and commitment to the people of Syliras and the Order."

She stood still as she finished, face beaming with pride.
