Basic Information Race: Mixed Blood (Inarta/Vantha) Birthday & Age : Spring 486 AV, 30 yrs old Gender: Male Height: 5'8" Weight: 165lbs Hair: Black with burgundy highlights Eyes: Green Job: Hunter/Archery Instructor Physical Description Kovac is a well defined mixture of his parent's heritages. He is not tall, but muscular and lean. He inherited his mother's dark hair, but his father's burgundy highlights. Kovac's skin tone is a pleasing compromise between the olive hue of the Vantha and the fairness of the Inarta. He does not have the shifting eye color of his Vantha mother, but a more typical Inarta green cast to his irises. Kovac's attire varies with the occasion. At home, he prefers usual Inarta attire, dark brydas and bare chest, Though he has taken to weary light, loose shirts since leaving Wind Reach. He often wears a silver earring in his left ear. Character Concept Although of mixed blood, Kovac once considered himself a full citizen of Wind Reach, if not fully one of the Inarta. Kovac was a member of the Avora caste. Since leaving his home, Kovac has begun to search his mother's heritage as well as he seeks his true identity. His quick wit and standoffish charm are otherwise tainted by his cynicism. Once a jaded and anti-social pessimist who used sarcasm and belligerence to keep people at bay, a number of good friends had drawn him from his darkness and helped him become a relatively decent individual. He has, however, not lost his knack for sarcasm and snark and occasional surliness. His one beloved companion is a lute that belonged to his mother. It is his one true means of expression. When not hunting, Kovac earns is keep teaching archery.

Kovac's father was an Avora bowyer and fletcher who joined with a Vantha woman. Kovac's mother died in childbirth, an event that haunted his father throughout Kovac's life. Though Kovac did learn to use a bow while working with his father as he crafted the weapons, the two had a distant relationship that grew more so after Kovac went to live in the youth quarters. As a Yasi, Kovac showed himself talented and possessing great potential in several areas,including music and working with the bow. However, Kovac's dark features marked him as mixed, most certainly dooming him to be a Drudge. His father, a prideful man, bemoaned this potential fate, and petitioned vehemently for Kovac to be given a chance to apprentice with an Avora, noting the boy's exceptional skills. His pleas were ignored, until he proposed a daring demonstration of his son's prowess. If the boy could shoot a clay cup from the top of his father's head, give him a chance. If he missed, or hit his own father, pronounce him Dek. The officials agreed. A shaking Kovac managed to shatter the cup as it sat atop his father's head, and won the chance to be apprentices. The likelihood an Avora hunter would chose a mongrel was minute. Yet, the young half-breed was selected by a wiry old archer as an apprentice. While he had won his son a place in his caste, Kovac's father remained distant and cold to his son. His father died, and Kovac carried a deep pain for never reconciling with his father. Kovac enjoyed learning the trade of archery, the thrill of riding with the eagle riders out to hunt seeming to lift him from the unhappiness his family life had left in his heart. He admired and was befriended of several riders. Kovac grew in his skills, confidence and physical comeliness, attracting the attention of a young woman named Kalle. She was an artisan, crafting jewelry from glass beads. He pursued her and they fell in love. Kovac had found someone to fill the emptiness his parents had left in him. The began plans to live together. All that came crashing down when he discovered her in the arms of a rider...one that he called a friend....and in his own bed. Enraged, Kovac lunged at the rider, sword in hand, only to have Kalle throw herself at him. The rider, Qual, chose to leave, most likely saving Kovac from the consequences of his anger. Kovac struck Kalle with the back of his hand, and she ran out. Kovac shut himself up that day. Eventually, learning to cope, if dysfunctionally, Kovac stays a faithful Inarta, performing his tasks, but he only does what he has to for the riders, speaks to them only when he needs to. He drinks in fits, not constantly, but when he does he drank too much. His wounds remain open but thinly concealed behind sarcasm and pessimism, and he seems to like it.
