Physical Description

The result of an unlikely mating, Ayatah's build and physical appearance shows the amalgamation of Myrian and Eypharian genetics. She is tall and strong like her maternal parentage, but with the delicate build of her father's people. Her creamy olive skin glowers very slightly in direct sunlight, and this particular trait is one that Ayatah - for the longest time - detested of herself. She has eyes of a deep brown colour, looking black in poor lighting. Her hair is long - it falls just below her shoulderblades - and equally as dark as her eyes. If she was asked, Ayatah would claim that her favourite trait about herself are her full lips.

Ayatah will usually clothe herself in simple cotton, though sometimes in elaborately dyed dresses with intricate necklines, though these are usually saved for special occasions. If she adventures on a hunt, leather armour suffices for her. Since moving to Zeltiva, Ayatah has begun to wear shoes - a fairly big deal for a Myrian. Overtime, her wardrobe in general has become more and more 'cultured' (a word she detests - are Myrians not cultured?!), in order to fit in and be more socially accepted in the scholarly city of Zeltiva.

Her appearance is pleasant to look upon, that much she knows. Like the Eypharians that she has grown to distrust and dislike, Ayatah has inherited those somewhat seductive pheromones. This means that men tend to give her at least a second glance, if not a third. When she was younger, she would hugely enjoy this benefit, fluttering her eyelashes and flashing a coy smile to make the boys run after her. Now, however, her interest in the opposite sex has dwindled, to give way to a new dedication to her future -- wherever it may lead.

Piercings
- Both ear lobes in which she tends to wear simple earrings.
- A daith piercing on her left ear in which she wears a small black loop
- A nape, which she wears the same silver studs with which she was pierced originally.

Tattoos
- A small black double-bladed dagger that lies right across her navel. The central hilt is solid black, save for a tiny 'A' that is inked in white. The blades are curved slightly; one facing upwards and one downwards. This tattoo matches a weapon she once owned.
- Her gnosis mark is a complicated swirl right on the back of her neck, about the size of her fist. The strange colours and pattern pulses slightly, which has been known to unnerve some folk.
- A long, thin arrow that shoots upwards on her right side. The quill starts beside her hipbone, the point of the arrow ending just beside her breast. Ayatah decided to have this tattoo after finishing her three-year service with the Myrian army.
- A set of three tiny bones: one on the lower digit of her left thumb, a small fraction of her right collar bone, and an equally small fraction of her right rib. These three miniature tattoos are a family tradition; bones literally scattered on her body
- One small gladius on the left hip bone. This tattoo in particular is incredibly private to Ayatah, symbolising someone who still means a great deal to her.

Scars & Marks
- Three now-faint claw marks that cut straight across her stomach diagonally. These scars are from a tiger she once assisted a fellow Myrian in killing.

Ayatah of the Scattered Bones

Character Concept

Psychology
Having been brought up by her mother and the Scattered Bones clan, the Myrian lifestyle and culture was the only one that Ayatah knew for the entirety of her childhood. She knew nothing of Eypharians whilst growing up, save for the usual prejudices and hostility that Myrians generally feel about outsiders.

As a child, Ayatah tried to ignore her paternal heritage with infantile stubbornness. She spent the majority of her childhood convincing others that she was as Myrian as the next child -- but she failed even to persuade herself. There was something different about her, and not just her long, tangly limbs or gilded skin. Her mentality was also different. Yes, she was fierce, and aggressive, like all good Myrian children. But at times her fierceness seemed to be dedicated to finding answers, and not serving Myri. Such a mind set did not go unnoticed; her peers and teachers despised her, and her clan mates fretted that her desperate questions made her even more of a target than simply being half-blood.

During her adolescence, Ayatah continued to be driven by a desire to learn and have her many questions answered. But years of rejection by her fellows had taught her an important lessons; she was her own favourite teacher. And so she turned to books; works of history, fiction, poems and even books for children. All quenched her thirst for the knowledge that she could not find within Falynder. With her curiosity finally satiated, Ayatah could turn her full attention to the Myrian-esque lessons of her teenage years. Though the majority of her peers were still hostile, at least now Ayatah was not doing anything to be inherently despised -- other than being half-Eypharian, of course.

Ayatah dedicated three years to serve her Goddess-Queen Myri between 506AV-509AV. As with all new recruits, that first year was the most gruelling, exhausting year of Ayatah's young life. The teasing of her childhood seemed almost pleasant compared to the verbal and physical abuse received in her military career. Her battle prowess - whilst lacking the beastile strength of a pure Myrian - was stealthy and quick. She was easily overpowered, but not easily caught. After her three years of service, Ayatah received her gnosis mark from the Goddess-Queen in a ceremony that not only proved her dedication to her maternal race, but also proved to many, many individuals (Ayatah included) that she was, indeed, a daughter of Myri.

But Myri is not the only deity Ayatah pays homage to. Although she loves the Goddess-Queen for all she has done for Ayatah's mother's people, her relationship with the Goddess is one of duty and responsibility. She has to love Myri, in order to be a Myrian. She kills in Myri's name, but does not live for Myri. The Goddess Eyris provides a better fit for Ayatah; as a child, she imagined herself standing beside the Goddess of Knowledge and the two of the sharing facts and stories like gossiping friends. Most recently, having acquired a small parakeet as a pet and friend, Ayatah has also been reading more about the God Eywaat as well.

As with all people, there is a lighter side to Ayatah. She enjoys to laugh - and those that tell jokes and stories are always high up in her favour. Fire dancing has also been a keen hobby of hers since she was a child. She is also incredibly passionate - and stubborn. As such, she will do what likes, but do so with great fervency. Loyalty and love are things that Ayatah does not give away easily -- though once you have 'earned' her favour, she will be devoted to you with unbelievable dedication.

History
The Scattered Bones are headed by Ayatah's Great-Grandmother, Quinneth, currently aged 103 years. The woman is fiercely proud, and adored by all family members. The clan name came about some four hundred years ago, when a distant relative started the family trend of separating the bones of their victims and prey. The bones were traditionally buried ('scattered') around the nearby area, though now they might be taken back to the family home to be used in clothing, medicine or cooking. The compound of the Scattered Bones lies South-West of Taloba, attached to the city by a narrow path that is flecked with bones. Quinneth is a woman obsessed with tradition, and as such there are many rituals her clanmates go through.
Traditions of the Scattered Bones :
Birth Weapons: All female babies born to the clan are given a birth-weapon, chosen by the mother to represent her new daughter in some way. When the girl has grown, she can share this weapon with a close friend or lover to symbolise the unity of the Myrian people.
Solo Hunt: When a Scattered Bones clanmate has turned 16, they go on their first solo hunt accompanied by two older relatives. There is one strict rule to this ceremony: the accompanying cousins or siblings cannot talk to the young hunter/-ress. When the young Myrian returns after a successful hunt, he or she receives their first tattoo.
Travelling Bones: On the rare occasion that a clan member leaves the jungle, they are given a bone for good luck and fortune.

Paira of the Scattered bones tells the story of Ayatah's conception with a hint of humour and bitterness. The Eypharian that impregnated her was an arrogant, intrusive scholar that craved knowledge and geniusness. He travelled across the lands learning of the 'lesser races' - their language, trade and the like. The Myrian and Eypharian disliked each other upon sight, and the lack of a shared language between them meant that a friendship was impossible. Ayatah's conception was the only time the two of them stopped glowering at each other (at this point, Paira would wink and say something lewd about a man with four hands and many imaginative uses for said hands). When asked about why such an event came to happen, Paira will simply smile and shrug her shoulders: "Every woman has needs, and he simply had the necessary parts."

When Paira returned home, the obviousness of her pregnancy caused some raised eyebrows and questions. But fortunately, the head matriarch of her clan - her own Grandmother Quinneth - accepted Paira's pregnancy with a gentle smile and a single nod. Since then, Ayatah has been loved and adored by her family like every other, pure-blooded, child to follow her. Her mother partnered with a Myrian mate some eight years later, to give Ayatah a younger half-brother and -sister.

After her military service, Ayatah's years were spent doing whatever a good Myrian woman will do; working within the clan, hunting, killing, patrolling with the army. The djed storm, of course, changed all that. Ayatah was on patrol with her fang and close friend Tinnok (another half-breed; the two were firm friends almost immediately) when the storm hit the Flaynder jungle. Amongst the horror and pain, Ayatah suffered a miscarriage which then lead to her to withdraw into her own suffering. She began to dedicate her time working in the military infirmary, as if saving the lives of others would somehow compensate for the loss of her own child. The season and half that followed the storm saw Ayatah struggle, saddened, but eventually, she survived. Time healed her wounds (or began to, at least) and the relationships between her family, friends and lover began to heal as well. But her perception of the world had changed, and the jungle was no longer her comforting home, but a place of horror and loss.

She decided to leave Taloba, in order to chase her scholarly passions, but to also escape the hurt and anger that had haunted her time in Taloba. Ayatah left mid-Summer 512AV, and travelled across Cyphrus (stopping at Endrykas) to then continue to further Eastwards. She arrived in Zeltiva in Winter 512, and Ayatah set about joining the University to study Anthropology. Her reasoning behind this academic move varied depending on who asked the question; 'I needed somewhere to live', 'I've always like books', 'I want to know more about my Father'. The truth is a mixture of all answers -- though the latter is the hardest for her to admit.

As of Winter 515AV By far the two most life-altering changes Aya has experienced are her adopting her son Kuame, and conversing with her Eypharian Grandmother. Though Ayatah and Khatashi re Naphu did not entirely see to eye to eye, the old Eypharian woman managed to impart a lot of knowledge onto her granddaughter. Most surprisingly was the fact that the simple, single meeting of man and woman that resulted in Ayatah's conception was not, in fact, a single meeting at all. Instead her mother, who initially met her father after hiring him as a tutor, fell deeply and stupidly in love. Blind to each other's differences and cultural barriers, the then-young Paira of the Scattered Bones and Rashak re Naphu spent a blissful year together, which ended only when Paira, now pregnant with Ayatah, returned back to the jungle. Her visit was meant to be temporary, to share the good news with her family. But, for reasons still unknown to Ayatah, her mother did not return to her father in Riverfall, as they had intially planned. Instead, Paira remained in Taloba and Rashak, now separate from his family and lineage, seemingly disappeared.

Heirloom
A double bladed dagger with a small 'A' engraved into the central hilt. It was made for Ayatah when she was born, part of a clan tradition that the women are giving a weapon of sorts that somehow represents them. Ayatah's own dagger was designed and chosen by her mother to represent the two races that created her daughter - Eypharian and Myrian.
As part of yet another clan tradition, Ayatah gave the dagger to her lover, so it is no longer in her possession

Relationships

Image
Name Tinnok, PC.
First met 1st of Spring, 496AV
Last Seen 35th Day of Summer 512AV
Relationship Close Friend
Description As a fellow half-breed, Tinnok was perhaps always going to be Ayatah's closest childhood friend. The two supported each other as youngsters, and as they matured so did their friendship. When Tinnok separated herself from Myrian culture, their meetings became less frequent but Aya remained dedicated and affectionate towards her long-term friend. There was nothing that could change this, not even when Aya realised that Tinnok's feelings towards Razkar extended beyond simple friendship. Though secure in her relationship and trusting of her friend, Aya could nevertheless help but wonder if her closest friend might be a more suitable match for the male than she was.

Image
Name Razkar of the Shorn Skulls, PC.
First met 22nd Day of Fall, 509AV
Last Seen 39th Summer, 512AV
Relationship Past lover
Description Aya and Razkar's relationship was the epitome of Myrian romance: passionate, dedicated, and full of sweaty nights spent in the Falyndar jungle. However, their bond faltered slightly following the djed storm of 512, when both of them were suffering in silence and allowed their respective pains to drive a wedge between them. Thankfully, a bridge was built and the two made plans to leave the jungle temporarily, in order to escape from the memories and hurt that lingered there. After a mere few days in Riverfall, Ayatah left for Zeltiva and it would be the final time she saw her lover. The separation between them expanded years and many miles, and for quite some time Aya was heavily weighed down with guilt when she heard that Razkar had come to Zeltiva in search for her. After eluding his grasp, the half-Eypharian finally had to accept that their relationship had come to a final end. She still holds some affection for the male, however, and prays that he has found happiness in his life.

Image Kiwi the Sun Conure
This small bird forced his way into Ayatah's life in Winter 512AV during her first year in Zeltiva by continually tapping on her bedroom window. Since then, the bird has become a close friend and confidante to her. Though his vocabulary is limited to only three Common words (cherries, no & apricot), he manages to make his feelings known by various squeals and squawks.

Image
Name: Kuame (Kwah-may), NPC
Age: 6
First Met 13th Fall 514AV
Date of Birth: 33rd Winter, 509AV
Relationship: Adopted son, as of 31st Fall 514AV
Race: Mixed: Benshira mother, Myrian father (unknown to Kuame)
Bio Kuame knows nothing of his life beyond that of the orphanage, though he does feel, through some strange instinct, that he was not born there and is missing out on a happy childhood that many other children seem to have. His memory holds nothing of the woman who birthed him, or the man who helped in his creation, but he sees such faceless individuals often in his dreams. In truth, his mother was a desert woman: a Benshira. Kuame's paternal figure, in contrast, unites Ayatah and the child in a way completely unknown to them both; Tutwa of the Blooded Hands embraced the Desert-dweller only once, during his expedition of the lands outside Taloba that would only result in him high-tailing it back to Myri's kingdom shortly after Kuame's conception. It is this heritage - of the desert and the jungle - that gives Kuame an appearance that is somewhat similar to Ayatah's own, and is what initially attracted the two to each other.[/spoiler]
Skills: Storytelling, 5. Drawing, 10. Running, 10.

Image
Name Duron, PC
First met 13th of Summer, 515AV
Relationship Friend, previous love interest
Description Duron was the first male to catch Aya's eye since the termination of her relationship with Razkar. This was perhaps due to the tattoos on his face, making the Akalak more familiar to a woman who had been surrounded by Myrian males for the majority of her life. After a brief bout of training, the pair decided to better get to know each other, recognising an interested spark between them. However, Ayatah has yet to fully realise the side effects of Duron's Cerulean status. To an outsider of Riverfall, this puts her in a potentially dangerous situation.

Image
Name Skyard Underwood, PC
First met 4th of Winter, 515AV
Relationship Lover
Description To say that Skyard attracted Ayatah's attention would be a gross understatement. In truth, the magnetic pull between them was something Ayatah had never experienced before. Unlike the other men in her life, Skyard was an anomaly: though a warrior in a certain sense, he looked utterly unlike her previous love interests. The physical contrasts between the Myrian and the Kelvic were innumerable, and yet in some ways they were perfectly suited. Since meeting him, Ayatah has felt deliriously happy and has believed the future she always wanted for herself - a husband, a family - was finally within her grasp.
