[Syliras' OOC Thread] The Calm within the Storm

Hey guys,

I've had a hankering for a story-arc involving the darker side of the knighthood in Syliras. You see a lot of threads about the good that the knights do but not a lot about the harsher side described here - the side of knights that gets a little morally grey stain on their otherwise spotless armour.

What if it isn't a black and white situation - no clear good guy/bad guy and no decision you make will ultimately be the 'right' one?

If you're interested in brainstorming a bit then let me know!

Also - side note - y'all need to get sliced up more often. Let me play with your insides and stitch you back together!

I would love to see the knighthood with more morally grey sides to it. I have a couple plots of my own trying to poke at that. Currently I'm a bit tied up with threads and can't start any new ones (other than those I have agreed to), but I have plenty of ideas and could definitely plot for Summer.

Some ideas that would be cool in a calendar or thread include:
- City lock down
- Interrogation/investigation of innocent and guilty parties
- People sent to the mines for hard labor
- People found innocent working in mines
- Harrassment of unsavory races
- Greater fear and subsequent precautions against the Ebonstryfe
- Knights who abuse their power/authority and get away with it

Do correct me if anything seems unreasonable for the knighthood, but I think there is a lot more potential for interesting conflict.

Sayana, everything you've listed seems like something the knights would do except maybe the last one. They wouldn't get away with it, civilians would report it to the higher ups and would deal swift justice.

I am more than willing to let Aranta get harassed a bit by the knights for just being a Zith; so far he's only dealt with people giving him suspicious looks and maybe avoiding him, nothing that's outright aggression, and I don't want my bby to seem like he's a pushover XD So if anyone wants to come try to push Aranta around a bit, I am more than up for that

Garland, I disagree. Any time you have an organization with such a large degree of power, you're going to have abusers. People are flawed, and anything that depends on people will inevitably end up flawed as well. And if it comes down to the word of a Knight against some civilian or traveler, who do think will be believed?

I'm more than happy to offer up Baelin so long as he doesn't wind up dead. The gray area of the knighthood is something I've always wanted to explore. I can be a slow poster though.
