Dumping ground for potential thread titles

Another season in this hell
Set to destruct
Dark and stormy
Pull me into darkness
Our godsforsaken lot
Pull me into darkness
It only hurts if it draws blood
All this emptiness says I want more
Of flesh and blood
Bite the hands and the fingers that feed
I'm stuck in the belly of the beast
The fate that we abandon
Slaughter seekin
Strip away the fear
You will ache like I ache

Sixissas
Image
Name Sixissas
Race Dhani (Constrictor)
Date of Birth Summer 31st, 407 A.V.
Place of Birth Sunberth
Title Daggerhand Big Sister
Skills Weapon: Broadsword 42, Dagger 38, Throwing Knives 28, Unarmed Combat 52, Wrestling 68, Intelligence 32, Subterfuge 35, Stealth 40, Seduction 35, Strategy 35, Intimidation 34, Investigation 32, Wilderness Survival 28, Observation 31, Tactics 28, Leadership 45, Psychology 35, Logic 34

Sixissas is a cold-blooded and sadistic assassin within the Daggerhand and has been around in the shadows for some time. She prefers to go unnoticed from outside the gang, not wishing for outsiders to know all that much about her. Despite this, in recent years she has longed for a return to the old ways of the Daggerhand. For the days in which they struck fear into the hearts of the people of Sunberth! For when they dominated the city and people itself. The days in which the wealth at their fingertips was plentiful and indulge herself in all her worldly pleasures. Back then Sixissas could act with impunity, but when the city itself struck back at them, she simply slithered away into the shadows to ride out the storm. When it was over she found the Daggerhand changed, their new goal is one of simple survival. She found that change unpleasant, but carried on and now supports a return to their former glory. She supports the increased outwards hostility, knowing that a projection of strength keeps the wolves at bay. She also seeks to cause chaos and fear within their enemies, by taking out those that she and the gang find bothersome. No matter how important or unimportant someone is if she takes interest and they are a problem she will send them to her best abilities.

To her hunting down those that cross the Daggerhand and prove to be problematic turns into a thrilling game. She enjoys the hunt, the thrill of cornering an opponent and then watching as the hope drains from their face. Usually not revealing her Dhani or Snake form until there is no possible escape. Though before this, she takes time to study and stalk them. To gather information on her would be prey. Finding out their daily routine, and if possible their likes and dislikes. Sometimes going so far as to approach them herself if she finds them interesting enough. But this curiosity is supported by the notion of lulling them into a false sense of security, and perhaps having some fun while she is at it. But when it comes down to it, whether she has cornered them with words or the sword, when the time comes she is brutal and efficient. Sixissas tends to take a personal interest in someone if they manage to escape her attempt on them, and can become frustrated with her would be victim. If it comes to a fight she likes to get into the head of her prey. Using a mixture of seduction and intimidation she will taunt and tease her opponents, trying to get under their skin, making them feel confused/conflicted, lose their focus, and possibly make their skin crawl. It excites her to see their reactions to her words.

Sixissas prefers to at first not kill her victims outright. If she has to she will hurt them enough to tire them and rid them of their weapons. But, if she is able to she will try and disarm them of defense before having to cut into them. Using a mixture of her ability with the blade and her unarmed/wrestling to gain a close-up advantage. Her opponents underestimating her strength sometimes unaware that she is a Dhani in human form. When she downs them she will slip from her armor and transform into her Snake form a Black Reticulated Python which is about forty-five feet in length. She will then constrict her victim and take as long as she likes to knock them out. Increasing and decreasing pressure finding a hedonistic and sadistic joy in controlling their breath. But in the end, when they are knocked out, she does not continue until their heart stops. Instead, she will then expertly devour them both whole and alive. This being after of course removing any items that could help in their escape or which she finds unappealing. Over the next five days, she digests them alive leaving no trace and finding a sadistic pleasure in it. One rule of hers is no witnesses, and if someone stumbles upon the scene of the murder in progress she will move to kill her victim immediately and then move onto silence the person who happened on the scene. She finds the weak disappointing but has a curiosity and interest in the strong.

Sixissas has an intimate knowledge of some of the tunnel systems under Sunberth and calls some areas of it home. Or at least, she uses some of it as safe houses and knows well enough about it to navigate it to come up into Sunberth mostly where she wants. She usually will not turn into her Dhani or Snake form on the surface, only doing so in isolated areas or beneath in the tunnels. When not on the hunt or up to gang business she can be found at taverns drinking and 'indulging' herself. She finds herself closest to her past when doing so, but finds it limiting to what it could be. She likes to hear about people's ambitions in such a setting. Possibly on the lookout for recruits or potential enemies when she listens to them drunkenly gloat. Regardless she does take a genuine interest and likes to talk to people about such things. Even with how she enjoys what she does when on a hunt she does enjoy a bit of 'normal' sadomasochism. One might not know what kind of person she is on the hunt just based on encounters at a Tavern. A bit of fun here and there is how she calls it. Overall she can come across as playful, teasing, and genuine. Though be warned, for her domination is more then just about physical domination. She likes to work under the skin of people and control them like her playthings and tools. Sixissas is also very loyal to the Daggerhand and her comrades. Those that prove useful to her or she finds to be useful will find her protection. She will go all out when it comes to protecting her own, and all out when it comes to punishing those that threaten her underlings and comrades.

Ashara

Name Ashara "The Viper"

Height & Weight 5'10" & 160lbs
Date of Birth 483
Place of Birth Sunberth
Title Daggerhand Big Sister

Gnosis Oceanus Curse (2)

Ashara is one of the “older” Lieutenants of the Daggerhands, known as a Big Sister. Joining the gang at a younger age, when the gang was still relatively new, she managed to impress her superiors with her fierceness and cunning. Receiving her promotion before the fall of Dalagnar, Ashara made herself known for her ability to discover important information. There had been speculation from her peers, as well as her superiors, that she had foreknowledge on the attack that claimed Dalagnar’s life. No one was ever able to confirm that, though many died trying.

Despite the reservations from key members of the gang, Ashara has managed to prove herself invaluable. While not in charge of any particular function she’s the one they rely on when certain questions need answers. Often Ashara can be seen roaming the streets with a few lackeys. Though, if it can be avoided, she stays away from the coastline.

What her peers, and perhaps even her superiors, don’t realize is that Ashara has the means to undermine the entire gang. No one is ever sure if her actions are for the Daggerhands or for herself. Ashara is invested in many clandestine functions of the city. She is a woman that constantly tells less than what she knows. The people that cross her path often regret doing so. As an expert of the dagger and brawling she often will perform necessary wet-work herself, rather than leave it to an underling, depending on the importance of the individual.

Those under her command behave out of fear rather than loyalty. Behind her back they call her the Viper, for when she gets her teeth into a person they die a slow and painful death. Yet she usually speaks with charm and allure. Treating everyone as a friend, until they need to be notified of her displeasure. Some of the brothers and sisters think she came from Bragga’s House from the way she moves with such allure. Among the ranks her sexual exploits are well known, as well as the fact that all former lovers are dead.

Gnosis N/A

Sebastian is an ambitious but wary man. Always he's working on a project that he feels would make an improvement for the city. He finds a lot of satisfaction in construction because of the pride of being able to point at something and claim responsibility for it. After the fires that had destroyed a good deal of the Sunset Quarters, Seb was one of the first people to step in and assist with the reconstruction. Feeling that Sunberth was home, dangerous and chaotic, but still home. What he desires is to completely reconstruct all the ruined buildings of Sunberth, feeling that it would assist in improving the general mood of the citizens.

His ambitions need backing, so he pledged himself to the Daggerhands, having had negative experiences with the Sun's Birth. Being a man of calm temperament and capable of getting things accomplished, he attracted the attention of a Big Sister that took him under her wing as a protege. For years, Sebastian has been groomed to one day step up and depose a Daggerhand big sibling, so that he can take leadership of a small section of the gang and begin his efforts to rebuild the city. All while being loyal to the woman that he serves loyaly, The Viper.

"The Gardener" has a long standing history within the Daggerhand.

He was one of Libby Dalagnar's, the daughter of the ex-boss, first Red Guards. Grubbins took an injury saving her life during the attack which killed Robern's wife. Indeed he was the only survivor from their guards, and fought ferociously to protect Robern's daughter even after being wounded with an arrow to the stomach. Robern remembered his loyalty and trusted The Gardener even up until his death.

As The Gardener grew older, and less inclined to stay within the usual ranks of the Daggerhands, Robern had him educated in the ways of gardening to tend to his mansions personal gardens for his daughter's benefit. A job he still continues to do to this day with care. He remains the main groundskeeper of the isle tasked with maintaining it to this day. All while ensuring no one interferes with the Daggerhand. At any given time, he maintains security of the Daggerhands on patrol, granted the title of Underboss by Stiletto for his loyalty to the gang even after Dalagnar's death.

Libby
Image
Name Libayna "Libby" Dalagnar
Race Human
Date of Birth 45 Spring 498
Place of Birth Sunberth
Title Daggerhand Underboss; 'The Mother'
Skills Running (48), Escape Artist (54), Larceny (61), Torture (43), Seduction (77), Dagger (66), Brawling (49), Intelligence (52), Leadership (51), Animal Husbandry (55)
Gnosis Chaon (1)

The following information is not known to the city at large. Only Daggerhand know and members really speak of Libby by name. Only referring to her as "Mother" or by her rank of Underboss.

Little Libby Dalagnar was the pride and joy of Robern Dalagnar. She was his only child, daughter of his wife who was murdered brutally roughly a decade before. Libby was fortunate enough to survive the attack that took her mother, but she didn't escape unscathed. Even today the right side of her face tells of a severe burn from poison that only grazed her, causing permanent blindness in that one eye and a face she hates to look at. Despite the burn, Libby is generally considered as one of the most gorgeous ladies of all Sunberth, even competing with Brega herself for looks, though there's even less that can compete in being dangerous.

The Gardener saved her life when the city swarmed like bees, executing her father. But, Libby is a woman after daddy's own heart, and has learned from his brutal views of Sunberth Politics to wield them with lethal intent. She enjoys watching in on torture, and even though her father once said she's was too delicate to ever have to lift a weapon, she gets a thrill out of joining in, just to hear screams of pain.

This lust for adventure was how she became an Underboss for Stiletto. She did not wish to lead, so fought a former holder of the title to claim a Underboss seat of power for her own.

She makes the HQ her own, and is rarely ever alone. In truth, she wields the respect of those who see themselves as the 'Old guard'. The veteran elites of the gang, who also helped back Stiletto during the transnational phases of leadership. She has sense informed the new leader of the syndicate about her fathers old debts and connections.

"The Gardener" was once apart of her Red Guard, but now a new generation protects her along side her lovely pet, a Dire Wolf, named Whites (it's ironic because it is dark gray) that follows her constantly, and could easily tear a man apart in seconds. It's happened before, and it's not beyond Libby to instigate violence just to get a rise out of Whites. To gain the title of Red Guard, one has to have been a loyal member of the Daggerhand for at minimum a year and have preformed an action of supreme loyalty.

Stiletto
Image
Alias Stiletto
Race Human (Assumed)
Place of Birth Sunberth
Title Daggerhand Boss
Skills Dagger (80), Dual Wield (63), Intimidation (86), Brawling (77), Leadership (92), Cosmetology (66), Disguise (90), Impersonation (82), Tactics (55)
Gnosis Hapchance (2)
Krivas (1)

To those who seek to describe Stiletto, many come to the same conclusion that they are imposingly charismatic. To command the respect of the most brutal of thugs in all of Sunberth is no small task. But, it is one that Stiletto preforms with dauntless confidence.

No one dares ask them about their past, nor does Stiletto talk of it. Their voice alternates with practiced grace, turning masculine one moment before becoming effeminate the next. While their identity is hidden, whats not hidden is that hey were a member of the Daggerhand in their hidden past who only just rose to prominence following Dalagnar's death. And despite impossible odds, Stiletto kept The Daggerhands together. It was though such strife that Stiletto was beset upon by the twin gods Kelwyn when Stiletto promised to destroy the Night Eyes and Sun's Birth. Gaining one mark for each of the enemy gangs.

Stiletto's name alone now brings fear to many in Sunberth, but it was a reputation built upon brutality and cunning which caught the eye of Ssena who saw fit to bestow her mark upon them for doing what few people could do. And that was to scare someone to death through word alone.

"Who knows what true loneliness is -- not the conventional word, but the naked terror? To the lonely themselves it wears a mask. The most miserable outcast hugs some memory or some illusion. Now and then a fatal conjunction of events may lift the veil for an instant. For an instant only. No human being could bear a steady view of moral solitude without going mad."
― Joseph Conrad, Under Western Eyes

"The mob believes everything it is told, provided only that it be repeated over and over. Provided too that its passions, hatreds, fears are catered to. Nor need one try to stay within the limits of plausibility: on the contrary, the grosser, the bigger, the cruder the lie, the more readily is it believed and followed. Nor is there any need to avoid contradictions: the mob never notices; needless to pretend to correlate what is said to some with what is said to others: each person or group believes only what he is told, not what anyone else is told; needless to strive for coherence: the mob has no memory; needless to pretend to any truth: the mob is radically incapable of perceiving it: the mob can never comprehend that its own interests are what is at stake."
― Alexandre Koyré, Réflexions sur le Mensonge

"The body shuts down when it has too much to bear; goes its own way quietly inside, waiting for a better time, leaving you numb and half alive."
— Jeanette Winterson, The Passion

"I drink to the ruined house,
To the evil of my life,
To our shared loneliness
And I drink to you-
To the lie of lips that betrayed me,
To the deadly coldness of the eyes,
To the fact that the world is cruel and depraved,
To the fact that God did not save."

"A bad idea is blossoming

You want to bend me

What is left you will tie with ribbon

Tear the flesh from the bone."

"Evil turned out not to be a grand thing. Not sneering Emperors with their world-conquering designs. Not cackling demons plotting in the darkness beyond the world. It was small men with their small acts and their small reasons. It was selfishness and carelessness and waste. It was bad luck, incompetence, and stupidity. It was violence divorced from conscience or consequence. It was high ideals, even, and low methods."

Mosa's Reading (to be broken down)

"Mosa flipped the first of the two face down center cards over and looked it over carefully. The card showed a queen sitting on a thrown of wild growth in a forest, holding a pentacle. “This is the aura of your life so far, think of it as the atmosphere you exist in.… The Queen of Pentacles. This is someone in your life who is warm, generous, and a person that has your best interests at heart. They don’t fear hard work and see that in yourself as well. They give you gifts, especially monetary, as rewards for the intelligence and thoughtfulness you present to them.” She kinda suspected that the card spoke of the gang woman Orakan walked in with, but she wasn’t certain since the man was a stranger to her. “Let’s see.. this next card….” She flipped it. It showed a woman with butterfly robes waving in the wind holding a sword aloft that gleamed with a white light. It was reversed. “The Queen of Swords. You are a strong man, confident, quick-witted, and intensely perceptive. But in reverse you are also keenness that is sharpened to cruelty. You are sly, deceitful, and narrow minded. You like a good quarrel and love gossip, though you will not spread it yourself.” Mosa shook her head offering him a wry grin. “The cards speak… I just read what they say.” She added, hoping not to set the volatile man off. She added, then flipped the card that crossed the other two dramatically.

The card that crossed the first two depicted a woman, a pregnant one, sitting at a spinning wheel. The word “Empress” was printed across it along with the number three. “This is the thing that crosses you. Sometimes it can be a person but often it can be an aspect of yourself. I can’t tell you which. You need to decide for yourself.” Mosa said as she tapped the card and moved it back to its place where it laid across the other two that were side by side. “It’s hard to tell because it is laying sideways, but it too is inverted. This is the Empress and her card represents a lack of satisfaction. Plans that involve important matters are unraveling. Uncertainty, infidelity, and infertility surrounds you. Infertility doesn’t mean you can’t get a woman pregnant or that your staff is non-functional. It means you lack ideas. There is nothing rich and growing in your mind right now. It is all dried decay.” She said, then moved on in his spread.

Then she flipped over the card that sat directly beneath the grouping of three she’d just revealed. It showed a pair of beggars standing outside a fine building with a stained glass window that had five pentacles in the glass. One beggar had a leg missing and rested on a crutch. The other crouched wrapped in a threadbare cloak at the base of the window. They both looked on the edge of death. “This is the core that roots you. It has to do with your inner self and what your soul is made of. This card is called Misery. It represents destitution, loss, loneliness, being out in the cold. It can also represent lovers or family that cannot find a common ground. It’s a lack of a spiritual life, pour health, and utter impoverishment.” She said with a cautious smile. Being old rarely garnered anger, but her words might just set this angry young man off.

The next card she flipped was one above the revealed trio. “This is your crown card. It’s what you strive for, wish for, and long for… “ Mosa said, flipping that card as well. “Six of pentacles. Gratification. You want rewards. You want help with finances, returns of favors, gifts, stability, and you want people in your debt and owing you things.” Mosa said, not really wanting to elaborate on this card. This young man’s reading wasn’t going well.

Then she turned to the card directly to the left of his trio of center cards. She flipped it over and displayed a man sprawled in a pile of blood with ten swords shoved into his corpse. “This card denotes your past… before a large change. It can be your childhood or before something drastic happened in your life… a move or death… something. This one is the ten of swords card.” She said thoughtfully and paused, hoping he wouldn’t burst into a rage after all. “The card is called ‘No, its not that bad.’ It means misfortune, ruin, defeat, loss, failure, pain, desolation beyond tears. It means you were skin deep in evil and the responsible for horrible things.” She said simply and grimaced as she flipped the other card that laid to the right of his trio.

“This is your immediate future.” She said, flipping over the card to show him another Major Arcana, this time depicting a priest with the words Hierophant and the number five on it. “Tradition, captivity, servitude, ritual, retention, and a desire to hold onto old thoughts and ways even if they are outdated. You will be concerned for the wrong things… form over function for one.” She said gently, and moved on rapidly. She didn’t like this reading or this man, not one bit.

She said, tapping the card and pursing her wrinkled old lips.

Then she tapped a card at the far-right bottom in a row of four cards stretching upwards on the table. “This here. This is the self card.” She said, turning that card over. Mosa winced again. “The Tower… another Major Arcana.” She said, licking her lips with a pale tongue and uncertain how much to say. “You are in a constant state of catastrophic change. You change your friends as easily as some people change their undergarments. You change your mind as easily. You have no security, and provide none for yourself purposely. You like being on your toes, and you thrive in disgrace. Destruction surrounds you and you are not happy unless you have a hand in it.” She whispered, suddenly growing very very afraid.

The old woman moved on quickly.

“This is your feelings card.” She said, moving on to the next card up in the row of four next to the pair that was surrounded by cards and crossed by one. She spent a moment flipping it to reveal a woman caught in a wheel with each spoke of the rungs of the wheel showing the woman in a various mood. The words “wheel of fortune” and the number ten was written on it. “Wheel of Fortune. You are, as I’ve said, in constant change. And because of that your fortune and destiny constantly changes. Your destiny today will not be your destiny of tomorrow or the day after. You enjoy good luck and feel like you are always moving ahead though you don’t know if it is for the better or for the worse. Conversely you have standing still, stalling, stagnating. You can’t even sleep properly because of your restless nature. It makes your life difficult.” Mosa said without so much as a hint of emotion on her face.

Then Mosa tapped the next card up and grinned. “Hopes and fears. Lets see what you, sir, are scared of.” She flipped the card and it depicted a bound woman, blindfolded, who stood in a circle of swords thrust into the earth. “Eight of swords. This card is about fear, bondage, paralysis due to censure, indecision, illness, difficulty, and weakness. You are afraid of a nearly impossible task and of loosing your freedom to move, change, and adapt. That makes perfect sense after your last card.” Mosa said, nodding to herself.

Mosa tapped the last card. “This is the sum of all the spread… the final outcome... what is barreling towards you.” She flipped it dramatically. It showed The Moon, flipped upside down. A wolf and a dog, on two sides of a stream, howled at it. The card caused the old woman to frown. “Small lies are going to catch up with you. You will make tiny mistakes and be tricked. It will lead to great darkness in your life and stillness, silence, and an inability to change. But it can also mean an unexpected gain with no cost involved. Be careful. Your future is uncertain.” Mosa said, then looked over the spread."
“The means to every crime is ours,
and we employ them all,
we multiply the horror a hundredfold.”
