Appearance: Khara's complexion appears much like most Inarta: fair skin with a slight spattering of freckles and red hair, though hers tends more towards copper than crimson. The only somewhat remarkable feature she possesses are her golden eyes, something Khara feels is some sort of mistake for her to have due to the belief that those with such a thing were Wind Eagles in their past lives. While not exactly muscular, and could even be considered undernourished by some, Khara does have a slight athletic build due to spending several seasons as a game scout. She doesn't consider her height of 4'10" to be a detriment, more of a blessing to help her remain unnoticed while scouting and tracking.

Since the 47th of Spring 515, Khara has a Chevas mark signifying her marriage to Zhol. The mark is a very simple stylized feather, which looks as if it is formed out of flame, reflecting Khara's Inarta heritage, and Zhol's affinity for fire reimancy. The mark has the metallic look of copper - which echoes the low opinion that both Zhol and Khara have of their personal value - which looks tarnished around the edges, but when it reflects sunlight it picks up a slightly more golden glow.

Khara is constantly seeking to prove herself, though perhaps more to her own concepts of worth than to what society fully expects of her. She isn't as volatile as some of her fellow Inarta often coming off more nervous and fidgety, especially when dealing with a member of one of the upper castes. Always looking to the future, she has often been accused of daydreaming too often or not being mindful of her current situation. While attempting to strive for perfection, she has often fallen short, more due to her own lack of true focus than ambition or skill.

Character History

Pre-Creation:
Born to a Avora huntress, Khara longed for nothing more than to follow in her mother's footsteps but found herself often failing. The first disappointment came when she was born, living where her sibling was stillborn. While all lessons from her mother as a child were taken to heart, she often was easily distracted by the world around her.

Things didn't improve much for the girl when she joined the ranks of the Yasi. No matter what bendi she was assigned, Khara often failed to live up to her own expectations. While the girl did take to archery quite naturally, her lack of focus left her quite behind others her age who showed the same amount of promise. Never really considered a failure by her teachers, they more often than not simply expressed disappointment that she couldn't seem to find something to dedicate her attention to. She was passed over by the Avora in becoming an apprentice. At age fifteen, when assigned the caste of Chiet, Khara immediately signed up for the dangerous task of game scout, using it as a platform to hopefully learn all she could from the hunters the scouts worked with.

A year later her Mother died in Spring of 512 during the Djed Storm, despite not always seeing eye-to-eye with the woman, Khara mourned the loss and used it to redouble her efforts in bettering her skills. While not looking to replace the woman lost, Khara still feels she is destined for something more than her current life among the Chiet. Though whether the Avora that her mother once stood alongside of agree or not remains to be seen.

Post-Creation:

514AV :

In the Summer of 514, going on nothing more than rumor Khara successfully tracked a moose by herself. The following day she went on a hunt with Azira, an Avora huntress, and managed to help bring back most of the animal to Wind Reach. Since that day Khara has been allowed more and more freedom in scouting, often being sent out by herself or occasionally accompanying Azira and other Avora on their hunting trips. Still not even remotely considered a huntress in her own right, Khara has slowly started feeling like her dream of one day joining the Avora caste isn't a complete impossibility. Khara also formed a deeper relationship with Zhol, a boy from Endrykas she met during the riots of the previous Winter, and came to consider him her best friend.

The Fall of 514 was a mix of things for Khara. She began to learn some hunting techniques as she accompanied Azira, and felt encouraged more than ever to advance her skills and hopefully her caste. Unfortunately she also managed to attract some unwanted attention from an Avora blacksmith who ended up sexually assaulting her. The incident left the Chiet confused, terrified, and feeling as though she was practically worthless. Since then Khara has been struggling to rebuild what sense of self-esteem she had gained earlier in the season. She's not without help, though. Despite a rather rough beginning, Azira has become a source of encouragement and inspiration for the Chiet, especially as the season progressed. Drusilla - a kind Symenestra seamstress that Khara met earlier in the season - has proclaimed herself a bit of an elder-sister figure to the Inarta girl, giving Khara a strange sense of family at being included in Dru's web. Her relationship with Zhol was tested as the two struggled to keep their growing feeling for one another secret from the other amidst the bleaker events of the season. After a heartbreaking misunderstanding at the end of the season, they finally admitted the truth, much to the others surprise and since then they have been a near inseparable pair.

Spring of 515AV was a time of challenge and experiencing new things for Khara. From exploring a new area of the Unforgiving, to teaching an outsider the basics of game scouting, to taking part in a hunt for a creature terrorizing the Sanikas pass; Khara continued to test herself and try to prove that she was better than what she had been credited with. The largest change in the girl's life came on the evening of the 47th, where in a private (and rather unplanned) ceremony held only between the two of them and with Cheva as witness, Khara and Zhol exchanged marriage vows. Living in a society where such a thing is rare has proven already challenging, but both remain firmly committed to the other.

Khara's mother died during the Djed Storm of 512, when her body was recovered in the days afterwards her shortbow was found as well. Although the girl was not close to the woman who gave birth to her, the Avora huntress had made it known that her weapon was to be passed along to her only living daughter. Khara carries the bow with both pride and uncertainty - feeling honored to have the weapon given to her, but also feeling that she hasn't truly earned it.
